Boros Card Advantage?

So I'm playing a Boros devotion deck and a problem I keep running into is this, By the time I can generate large amounts of mana with Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx I am already in top-deck mode where I don't need the excess mana. I need an engine or something of the like. Preferably red, I just splash white. I have considered Prophetic Flamespeaker since I run 4X Madcap Skills but its in a bit of a crowded spot with Boros Reckoner , Hammer of Purphoros and Chandra's Phoenix plus you can't guarantee damage getting through. You guys have any ideas for card advantage? preferably a solution that doesn't break the bank. I appreciate your help.

It sounds like you're overloading some spots on the mana curve. Every card you just listed (besides the land) is a 3-drop. Your deck might be stumbling over itself as you try to maintain tempo.

Well I only run 3X Boros Reckoner , 2X Chandra's Phoenix , and 2X Hammer of Purphoros so it isn't so bad at the moment but you are right, that's one of the reasons why I'm being dissuaded from using Prophetic Flamespeaker , but I don't know what else to use in the format.

You could try and run Prophetic Flamespeaker over the phoenix and see how it does through testing, another card to consider is Chandra, Pyromaster if you dont already run it.

Also if you want to ditch excess lands Wild Guess could work

I've recently rediscovered Pyrewild Shaman as a great source of recursion. Esp if you're ending up with excess mana. Prophetic Flamespeaker to me is head and shoulders about having a hammer. Haste is nice, but you're gonna have so much help from being able to play 2 extra cards potentially each turn. It will certainly keep your hand full for a while.

Flinging Fabled Flames(11-1 in FNM) is my deck. Check it out for some ideas

Without seeing a decklist or a concept I really can't tell what you're trying to do that requires having a hand. If you have a huge creature or sorcery bomb like Mizzium Mortars , cast it when you draw it. Does the card you want to play cost a ton of mana and have "discard a card" as an additional cost?

It's just my gut feeling, but it would certainly be easier to include some scrying than card draw. Red and white have the worst card draw of the color wheel, and boros does tend to top-deck.

I think you might be right about the scry, maybe I just use a couple more copies of Magma Jet or something.

There really aren't great options in these colors. The only card not already mentioned is Chandra, Pyromaster . Another idea is to look for cards that can be good mana sinks so that you have something to do while topdecking. Hammer of Purphoros and Heliod, God of the Sun are a couple examples.
