This is not a rulings question, I just don't quite understand the card's effect....
When Akroan Horse ETB an opponent gains control of it.
At the beginning of your upkeep, each opponent puts a 1/1 white Soldier creature token onto the battlefield.
... what I want to know, is with that effect WHAT DO I GET OUT OF IT? HOW IS THIS CARD EVEN USEFUL? WHAT IS ITS PURPOSE?
Either I missed something, or I have a right to be confused....

You get 1/1 soldier tokens.
Akroan Horse is donated to your opponent by its ETB ability. Your opponent will therefore control the upkeep triggered ability, which means you (as the opponent of the ability's controller) are the player who gets the tokens.

okay. that makes since... I just pulled one the other day, and was so damn confused by it ,that I left it alone... seems a really roundabout way of token generation....

It's more for flavor than anything else. Ever heard of the Trojan Horse?

I had a moment like this. And by I, I mean my jolly gang of Rakdos maniacs. My friend gifted them a total of 3 Akroan Horse . They didn't really know what to do with them. At first it puzzled them thoroughly. Then they proceeded to hurl themselves at the constructs. It was quite embarrassing.

Its a budget and color friendly version of Assemble the Legion . Its flavorful, it might be good in limited.
Other than that...

NO ONE WILL SEE MY Akroan Horse + Torpor Orb COMBO COMING! MWHAHAHAA
November 11, 2013 3:15 a.m.
That's a bad combo. A 0/4 defender that gives your opponents tokens for 4 is horrible.

"WHAT DO I GET OUT OF IT? HOW IS THIS CARD EVEN USEFUL? WHAT IS ITS PURPOSE?" in order of appearance... 1. 11 soldier tokens (or!) a very cool coaster for a drink. 2. Maybe useful in limited..? Idk, it's a pretty weak card. 3. To make tokens.

@jonhydude: THAT'S WHAT I WANT YOU TO THINK! YOU'LL NEVER SEE IT COMING MWAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!

It's wicked flavour. I'm sure some cooky Selesnya combo deck could do something with and Parallel Lives and Collective Blessing and just be fun.

This thing is pure gold in the right deck. Like a Battalion midrange build or a Tymaret, the Murder King / similar effects deck, especially in EDH. It's a pretty good attack deterrent with Ogre Battledriver too.

For me this card works great. When I play Akroan Horse , I follow it up with Master Biomancer .When I pass the turn to my opponent, the horse creates a 3/3 Soldier Token on my field giving me a blocker that will require a bit more muscle to take care of.
In some play test I did, my opponents will either use removals like Doom Blade , Dreadbore or Hero's Downfall , or anything that can remove that horse from their field.

Why must people reply to threads that are two months dead?

Must be a reanimator.... Lol... Idk why people comment on dead topics.... They are dead for a reason. This is not Innistrad, here the dead are supposed to stay that way...
