Crucible of Fire?

Since Fate Reforged will likely have a strong dragon theme, I think that a lot of people will start playing Rakdos to play with dragons as well as cards like Crux of Fate. Will [crucible of Fire]] rise in value? Or will it stay a junk rare?

Discuss.

Eh...I think it will rise a little bit for a short time...maybe up to $3 or so because...DRAGONS!!...so all of the grown people who are children at heart will be wanting to build casual dragon decks to play with their friends...but I don't think it will ever be a competive card by any means, so I do not think it will climb any higher than about $3...but I could be mistaken. :)

Considering it's been reprinted I doubt it will see any drastic rise in price, and I really don't know that it'd even be good in a dragon tribal deck to begin with. Time will tell.

T1: Thoughtseize

T2: Sylvan Caryatid

T3: Crucible of Fire

T4: Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker

Could be fun! But, it is not a competitive card. So no, it's not going up in price. You want to mostly play dragons, not just pump them. That's what tokens is for :)

Highly doubt dragon tribal is going to be constructed playable.

Just remember it was $5 before it was reprinted. The edh crowd loves this card. It could get back up to a couple bucks for the m15 version but it won't be bc of standard players

Crucible of Fire will be at most a $1 rare. It's a terrible win-more card. Why do I need to give my 5/5 flier with a bajillion abilities another +3/+3 when it's already out of range for most damage effects?

Crucible of Fire gets even worse when you compare it to other anthem effects, like Door of Destinies or Adaptive Automaton.

sylvannos because some dragons like the newly spoiled Silumgar, the Drifting Death aren't 5/5 with a bajillion abiliities. also, what dragon have you seen that has more than one (or in some extreme cases, two) abilities?

@canterlotguardian: Uhh...let's not forget Silumgar, the Drifting Death is a 3/7 with flying, hexproof, and hits your opponent with a one-sided Infest each turn. The example you gave has 3 abilities all by himself. If you have two dragons, you already have 6+ power on the board and it all flies and does cool stuff.

You don't need to make your Silumgar, the Drifting Death a 6/10 at that point in order to win the game. There's only 11 dragons in the entirety of Magic with both a power and toughness 3 or less. Even then, all of those with P/T 3 or less are capable of getting bigger on their own. Instead of casting Crucible of Fire, you could have pumped your Dragon Hatchling four times.

On top of that, it's not like Mono-Dragon Aggro dot Dec is a thing or even close to becoming a thing. Crucible of Fire is a shitty card whose only upside is the awesome flavor of it. It doesn't speed up your clock more than just playing more dragons. It costs too much mana for such a narrow effect. There's other four mana cards that benefit dragon tribal that aren't useless on their own.

In no format is Crucible of Fire going to alter the meta enough for it to warrant being higher than $1. Unless, of course, enough players start buying them for casual play or for flavor factors.

I'm not saying it deserves to be a 20 dollar card or anything. Shit, the original Shards printing only hit like 5 at max, and that was because of EDH and because Thundermaw Hellkite made Modern dragons a very slight thing for a moment. I'm just saying it's not a card that deserves to be shit on, like it seems that everyone's doing.
