Need Help Developing a Land Base for Zedruu the Greathearted *f-etch*

The basic idea around my edh deck is to donate unfavorable permanents to my opponents and to steal the permanents that they intend to harm me with, whether permanently or temporarily.

Most of the deck in question is comprised of blue and red cards, though I still need a white land base to ensure that I can at least cast Zedruu the Greathearted when I need to.

When it comes to creating a deck, the land base is the most difficult aspect for me: I never know how many basics and non-basics to throw in. Out of all the basic lands, I know that I should have fewer plains than islands or mountains, but I don't know how to calculate how many of each I should have.

Furthermore, determining how many duals and fetchlands, among other non-basics, is also kinda difficult for me to figure out.

I really prefer playing with mono-colored decks for the most part, but I love the mechanics that Zedruu the Greathearted brings to the deck, so I'm intent on building a deck around her.

I was wondering if any of you might have some suggestions that could help me out: your input would be very much appreciated!

Your mana base should depend upon the type of spells you are running. I basically count the total number of Red/White/Blue mana required in the deck and decide how many of each land type to use from there.

You could look at my Zedruu deck as reference. I took out most of the non-basic lands since i'm using Land Tax and Price of Progress. It's not perfect but it is a start. Hope it helps.

I run every fetchable dual land I can, as well as fetch lands, for starters. Then look at stuff like Shivan Reef, Cascade Bluffs, Battlefield Forge, Clifftop Retreat, Sulfur Falls, etc. A few utility lands like Maze of Ith, Strip Mine, and so forth would also be nice. Your basics should be fairly easy to figure out after that.

Thanks for the suggestions: I have a better idea of what I need to do.
