Recently, i had an idea to run a gruul deck, using dragons with card:Descendants' Path. I have a good idea of the high cost dragons i plan on playing but i need more low cost dragons to get card:Descendants' Path working. the only two i can think of are Slumbering Dragon and Dragon Hatchling . What im asking is what low cost dragons do you know of? I dont care if its non-standard

A quick search through the card database reveals Slumbering Dragon and Dragon Hatchling to be the only dragons with a CMC lower than 4.

The two dragons you named are literally the only two ever printed under 3 CMC. However, at 4 CMC, we have Archwing Dragon , Dragon Whelp , Fledgling Dragon , Furnace Whelp , Hellkite Hatchling , Lightning Dragon , Nalathni Dragon , Rakdos Pit Dragon , Rathi Dragon , and Phantasmal Dragon (Weird O.o). Hope I was some help!

Well, if you ran 4 of each, that'd be 8 low drop creatures. Going into the 4 cmc rang, you can run a few, and that way, you're bound to get at least a few of the creatures you would need for it. I'd be more worried about the card:Descendants' Path though. You'd need to figure out a way to get that on the field every game in order to do the strategy that you're planning. Either that, or look into some mana ramp, but by then, you wouldn't need it entirely. =(

Also, if you use the green to ramp up your land count, there's also Dragonmaster Outcast . He's definitely good in my book. =)

@theeflaw You always have the option of adding a lot of mana ramp. Farseek and card:Ranger's Path would be good, even better when Stomping Ground gets reprinted in Gatecrash.

@Bigburlybill you raise a good point. are there any red or green tutors that would allow me to get card:Descendants' Path? Also, i appreciate everyone's input, thank you

I've made a working deck a while back using this idea. I utilize ramp and card:Descendants' Path to get the Dragons out. It's Modern format, but could be modified for Standard.

Here it is:

Mmm, Your Face!

card:Mirri's Guile, Crystal Ball , card:Sensei's Divining Top, Natural Selection . That's the best that I can think of. If you're play group allows it, Goblin Tutor is quite humorous and can search for an enchantment given the right roll. It's unglued though, so you can't use it in any sort of tournament.

You could always use changelings like Taurean Mauler .

ramp is deff the way to go. especially in the hands of the right player, it can kill.
