aggro vs ensnaring bridge, answer needed
Deck Help forum

i have this nagging dread feeling whenever i go to a large tournament that i'll come up against a deck running Ensnaring Bridge as i tend to play aggro/mid-range making it a poor match up for me. Especially the landfall deck i'm working on Growing Strong as it has no answer in the mainboard but i want to change that. I've been thinking about splashing for either Warstorm Surge or Ob Nixilis, the Fallen as a way to kill off my opponent as my deck goes to work. Meaning i can kill them without the need to swing which ensnaring bridge usually cuts off, plus in any other match up it just adds that extra win con element.
But i'd like advice on which one will work best and how to fit at least one into the mainboard and any other alternative that will synergies well, altering the land balance won't be an issue.
cheers

i sideboard Beast Within 's as it hits everything with the 3/3 being pretty inconsequential to me, but that's game 2. At present if a bridge were played game one i'd be completely locked out with my best bet being to scoop to save time, sideboard in removal against it then hope i draw into it & with time left in the round to beat them. That's no way to deck build.

Part of Modern is simply accepting that their are some match-ups you're 10-90 against to win, the card pool is simply too deep. So if you want to build a deck that hates on a certain other deck or archetype that's pretty easy to do.
Now if those match-ups represent a significant percentage of the metagame then it's time to seriously stack your sideboard or consider a new deck, but I wouldn't even go out of my way to include sideboard cards, unless they hit other decks, to battle say RW Prison decks. Those decks are so oriented to beating creature strategies that you just need to bank of them getting knocked out of contention by hitting their bad match-ups. So it's generally better to still tune with the top tables in mind. You're far better off setting up your board for the 10 Birthing Pod decks in the room not the 1 Restore Balance one.
That said, this is where some very flexible sideboard cards can come into play. Fracturing Gust or Creeping Corrosion are both good at sweeping up a bunch of prisons and everything out of Affinity.

God damn this happened to me last week. I had the best board state possible with my boros deck and couldn't draw into a single way to remove Ensnaring Bridge for a LONG time

in my deck all i can do is sit there and hope i get Trostani out so i can start gaining life to drag the game out to a draw or as mentioned, scoop and go to game two etc
i have a playset of bridges but haven't used them in a year, degenerate card i that's becoming more popular, if it begins to skew meta's by locking out aggro decks i could see having ban potential but that would be a long way off atm

Sideboard Sundering Growth /Krosan Grip /Nature's Claim and destroy the bridge right when they build it.
