Riku of two reflections Rule Check

Commander (EDH) forum

So new rules for commander say you can now clone Legendary's without them dieing.

If I cone Riku of two reflections in any way can I then double trigger in future turns (Once per copy) on creature cast spells and Spells? Can I copy Riku once he's played using his own trigger if i can pay the mana cost?

Basically I'm aiming to creature a clone/replicate deck focused around creatures and how the ability works will effect how I build my deck significantly.

Perhaps someone could share some knowledge about the replication/cloning process.

Cheers

So um... there was a change to the rules saying that now BOTH don't die. ONE riku is still put in the graveyard as a SBA... sorry to burst your bubble bro.

Ah I see, that's cool. There's still plenty to make the deck work with just Riku as the commander without needing to copy him, just that copying him would have been even more ridiculous.

I'm able to use Sakashima the impostor to replicate a Legendary creature still right? Since she doesn't share the creature name. So I could in theory double cast Sakishma the impostor and have her enter as two additional legal copies of Riku?

As well as Lazav, Dimir Mastermind if you're ego end up discarding that card somehow

Again, you would only get one Sakashima. She's legendary as well.

Oh wait I'll only be able to get 1 copy because if i copy Sakashima the impostor the new copy dies.

in order to do what you want you'll need Mirror Gallery .

doesn't riku only clone non legendary non token creatures?

Demarge - Nope, Riku of Two Reflections only says "Whenever another nontoken creature enters the battlefield under your control..."

Note that Riku of Two Reflections 's ability does not trigger when Riku itself enters the battlefield.

An additional quest I'd like to ask is this. If i cast rite of replicate and kick the spell then use the copy ability from Riku once it's been copied does it copy the kicked spell or just the non kicked spell and need an additional cost?

November 6, 2013 11:07 a.m.

"Kicked" status is a copiable characteristic of spells. The copy will also be kicked.

Better than to make another copy of him is to use cards such as Illusionist's Bracers and Rings of Brighthearth in order to use his ability multiple times (with Illusionist's Bracers + Riku of Two Reflections you already get a FREE bonus copy every time he copies something)

Also, if you're looking for copying creatures, you can always use combos with Deadeye Navigator. The one I like the most is getting a Cryptoplasm in game, so that it can be copied multiple times and will be able to copy any other creature you own later on...

Also, something that gives your creatures haste (such as Anger) can be really helpful along with Deadeye Navigator and creatures with mana-abilities, as when they enter the battlefield they can already activate said abilities, and then bounce again for more copies as long as you have a minimum amount of mana (Heartstone or Training Grounds can be pretty helpful here)

@Zonatos: Chack the post dates before you comment. This thread has been dead for a year and a half.
