Let's Talk: Reef Worm

Commander (EDH) forum

Reef Worm is a new treat from the new blue Commander 2014 deck that dies and replaces itself over and over and over again making its way from a measly 0/1 Worm all the way to a massive 9/9 Kraken ready to terrorize your quivering opponents after each board wipe. What does the T/O community think of the lil bugger? Anyone with any ideas for him or actual experience with him?

A G/U deck using some sort of token doubling effect can make those tokens a lot bigger threat. 8 9/9s are much harder to deal with than 1.

Oh dear God, the exponential growth when paired with two or more Doubling Season effects would be enough to make your opponents cry when they realize that board wipe they have to cast to save their own hide will most likely hand you the game on a silver platter. I had thought of this but hadn't figured it right with just one Doubling effect having forgotten to account for the extra tokens also doubling.

Ashnod's Altar and Nim Deathmantle for starters. Clone effects, copies in general, recursion...perhaps Warstorm Surge and Stalking Vengeance to benefit from the increments. Also, effective 4 drops are difficult to find in certain Birthing Pod strategies, and one that replaces itself along with tokens to search for 1 drops is pretty decent. All in all, I see nothing but value in a deck devoted to such a thing.

Ashnod's Altar + Gift of Immortality + Reef Worm or another sac outlet to just keep everything moving along?
