Jund Midrange Help

Commander Deck Help forum

How's it going, friends? What will it take for a Jund midrange deck to beat a ramp heavy and sweeper-happy Avacyn, Angel of Hope deck?

So far I've had little success. I've been too slow to win before Avacyn hits the board. Even with spot removals my opponent can resummon, leaving me with one removal less.

I have ways to mitigate board wipe effects, though not guaranteed to draw them in time. They don't help me win either, rather only stall the inevitable follow-up sweeper. The deck I face is full of them, along with spot removals and recursion for more removal/sweepers.

I want to decimate Avacyn using Jund colors and ideally would prefer keeping Wasitora, Nekoru Queen as commander. I'm also willing to go more aggro and run more hatred if I must.

Any input and advice is appreciated.

Living Death is an ideal choice - gives you protection from getting wrathed out and also gets round their indestructible team

If I were to run more hate what should I go after? What are the nastiest cards? How many should I run?

Also I should definitely get Living Death, it'll be a perfect addition.

If you're coming up against more wrath-heavy playgroups/decks, it might be worth it to splash more into a reanaimation-style deck backed up by the best jund removal. Cards like Gyrus, Waker of Corpses or a Kresh the Bloodbraided deck backed up with edicts and more dense removal can get around Avacyn control just by being too much to handle. You might also pack cards like Heroic Intervention, Thrilling Encore, and the above mentioned Living Death can spare you from a board wipe. If it's multiplayer, politics are a good tool of keeping oppressive decks in check.

Appreciate the suggestion. I forgot that I could keep Kresh around as a nasty ultimatum. What are some good reanimation cards worth including?

This next may not be the correct place to ask so apologies in advance. How flawed is my deck, especially for beating an oppressive Avacyn control deck? I can't help but feel like I messed up in building the thing and adding in a few other cards won't do much.

Perhaps I'm just a bit demoralized because I always struggle and lose to it, while my opponent wins pretty easily with it.

Bit of an update.

I'm going a general stomper route with this deck. Ideally I'll be punching for massive damage with creatures that have devastating abilities.

Any recommendations for big jund stompers with good effects?

Something like Etali, Primal Storm or Urabrask the Hidden or Worldspine Wurm.
