Changes to Ramp and Basic Land Count —Feb. 28, 2022
Pay no attention to the reasoning I used in the last update... I've decided to remove Land Tax and Knight of the Reliquary. They have been replaced by Weathered Wayfarer and Augur of Autumn respectively. I have also taken out Selesnya Sanctuary for Windswept Heath and I have taken out a forest for Boseiju, Who Endures.
The reason I made all these changes is because I knew I would be taking out a forest when Boseiju was spoiled, and in doing so I would make Knight of the Reliquary and Land Tax less consistent. That being said, I have wanted to have something that actually ramps in the place of Land Tax for a while. I would run things like Cultivate, but that would make Primal Surge whiff harder and more often. Thus, it needs to be a permanent spell. Weathered Wayfarer is like Knight of the Reliquary but with different conditions, and I am essentially able to ramp with it if I get Gaea's Cradle. There is probably a better spell to put in this spot, but I haven't found it yet.
As for Knight of the Reliquary, I've already been in the situation a couple times where I have no forests or plains to sacrifice, and taking out a forest just makes it worse. It's a good card, but I want to try something else in its place. Augur of Autumn ensures land drops and plays into the theme of my deck when its condition is met. I don't know how long it will remain in the deck.
These two changes may not hold up, and I may switch them back, or I may try something else. Suggestions are appreciated. I have no intention of changing the lands back.
