Nylea's Disciple

Based on discussion and the fact as somebody already mentioned we have another chance at a Shredding Winds , I will change my vote.

-1 Shredding Winds
+1 Traveler's Amulet

I don't see the amulet being playable in a 2-color deck unless you have difficult mana like double and triple colored spells. A 3-drop double red and a turn 4+ nemesis double green sounds appropriate for 9 mountain and 8 green so I think we're ok.

On the other hand, I concluded from reading that Amulet actually works well with scry. If you are scrying nonlands to the bottom of your library because you need lands, you can later use the amulet to not only get more lands, but also shuffle back those nonlands so that you can use them with the mana you've been going after. If you scry lands to the bottom of your library, you won't need or use the Amulet anyways. And if you have to shuffle your library any other way, you get to crack the Amulet first to essentially remove that bottom land. We have only 2 scry cards, and the scouring sands might be replaced by Amulet if we decide to use it, so I'm not seeing any justification for Amulet if we do a 2-colored deck. This pack is essentially a vote for whether we are 2 or 3 colored and I don't mind splashing the Stormchaser Chimera and maybe our best blue spell.

My first reaction: WTF someone picked a basic land instead of an actual card, I've rechecked the count twice, we have the right amount of card at that point and the Mountain was missing from that pack.

As for our actual pick, we've discussed it before and our 2nd choice from before came back, I think it's a safe pick and probably our best here Destructive Revelry . As much as I like Coordinated Assault , I think it's a win-more card that what the revelry can do for us. (and hey it's on theme with our name)

+1 Destructive Revelry

Well, clearly we are in the right colors. This pack has 4 strong cards for our deck; Coordinated Assault , Destructive Revelry , Nylea's Disciple , and Two-Headed Cerberus . Of those cards, I think we can count out Revelry and Cerberus. We already have 1 Revelry and I will never want more than 1 of this effect in the main deck, so when there are viable mainboard options to take over the second Revelry, I will take them. The Cerberus is strong with pump effects, but right now we have only 4 (sort of 5) of those, and the Disciple is going to be better a little more consistently.

Now, between Disciple and Assault, I am unsure what the pick is. I am a huge fan of Nylea's Disciple ; it is extremely good against aggressive decks and at its worst is a Hill Giant against control strategies. I will normally take such a solid creature over a trick; however, we currently have 13.5 good creatures (Xenagos doesn't usually count) and a grand total of 2 Mortal's Resolve for tricks. Not to put down the resolve; it's a great card. However, I like variation in my tricks and targeting 2 creatures is sweet.I think due to creature:spell ratio, I would vote for Coordinated Assault here, though I could be convinced otherwise.

We need creatures guys! There aren't many picks left and we're still short on our creature count.

+1 Nylea's Disciple , because it's just a solid creature

I'm torn. On one hand, Destructive Revelry is a decent removal spell in a format full of enchantment creatures. On the other hand, Nylea's Disciple is a hill giant with a good ETB trigger, and we could use another quality creature in our deck.

I'll weigh in with my vote later.

My instinct when I saw the pack was to pick the disciple. I am very happy it wheeled, it is a good creature that can help us at any point of the game, and it works well with devotion. And I feel this solidifies our playable creature count.

+1 Nylea's Disciple

I'm very torn between DR, ND, and CA. Cerebus is out. Not enough power boost for it.

I was hoping to get a playable creature this time. I don't think ND is the best of the 3 cards, but I might go with it as a creature and devotion helper.

I think CA is more than just win-more because it can be used on our block and potentially kill one or two attackers. Also the first strike surprise on an attack can produce a similar result.

Figure a DR will have, say, 5-6 cards it can straight up kill in an opponent's deck. Sound about right? Maybe more in some cases. Not bad.

I'm not ready to vote yet.

I wonder if nobody really picked the Mountain, and that it's a mistake that's going to lead to a do-over.

agGravity KrazyCaley do we have confirmation on that? It is a baffling choice.

I guess it's one of the issue that came up before with all the pauses, I'm just wondering what could possibly have happen to lead to this decision.

I honestly can't make up my mind. The Disciple is nice, but it's really good in multiples. Only having one won't even have an effect on most of our games.

Having a second Revelry is also nice. Having two means we're more likely to see one every game. But it only hits artifacts and enchantments. There are a lot of bestow creatures in the format, but sometimes it'll be dead in hand while we wait for our opponent to put an enchantment into play.

This is a tough call. I think I'm leaning towards the removal spell here.

+1 Destructive Revelry
