Ban Update —April 4, 2016
IN: Meren of Clan Nel Toth, Krosan Tusker, Varolz, the Scar-Striped, Academy Ruins
OUT: Prophet of Kruphix, Explore, Undercity Informer, Reliquary Tower
Prophet of Kruphix was banned. While this lowers the power of this deck CONSIDERABLY, since it has reliable tutoring, it needed to happen. Its 5 mana fully-leveled Lighthouse Chronologist except arguably better. Still a little sad to see it go.
Meren is a very powerful card. You get a creature back every turn NO MATTER WHAT and if you have the experience its even better. I'm really excited about using this.
I love Explore, believe me, but Krosan Tusker seems better in this deck. Its gets me two cards of advantage instead of one, and its a totally disposable 6 power for Mimeoplasm or Varolz.
Speaking of Varolz, I missed him, so he's back. Not paying for the sacrifice can make a difference, and the only real advantage Informer had over him in practical gameplay is that it could sacrifice itself as well.
Reliquary Tower. Why was this card in this deck in the first place? I guess I just thought it was an auto-include for every deck ever? Anyway, no maximum hand size is not needed, and perhaps even harmful. Academy Ruins is in, for now, until I find something more appropriate. Perhaps Grim Backwoods?
Want to find room for: Torrent Elemental, Greater Good
Greater Good is just too great...
-er good. It fits perfectly. Discard isn't a hindrance, more card advantage is always good, and get value out of a removed Mimeoplasm in a pinch.
Torrent Elemental seems like it has some crazy good synergy. Exile with Mimeoplasm with no sweat, plus makes attacking to win more viable.
