I wouldn't blame you for saying "so what?", but consider: Vigilance with Glare of Subdual means you can attack AND lock enemy creatures down. Vigilance with convoke spells means you never have to choose between advancing your board position and keeping combat tricks ready. Vigilance means Glory-Bound Initiate is just always a 4/4 lifelinker, and that you can swing in for massive damage with a Root-Kin Ally and friends.

Even without that though, between Bramblewood Paragon , Arashin Foremost , and Obsidian Battle-Axe , these warriors can just beat down pretty quick.
