Battle for Zendikar — RETURN TO ZENDIKAR 1/3

By the Black Vines and the Nameless Thorn! At long last we have some new cards!

Pulsing veins of the Blight are spreading and there's new menace roaming the woods.
One that would like to add your body into it's own moldy bulk!

"If I die, feed me to a shambler.
At least that way I'll be doing some good."

Aww yiss! New mushroom-golum is awesome! :P

I like it, in multiplayer this guy can get huge and it also benefits from Corpsejack.

Perhaps that Mold Demon can go away now, finally. :P

You're only running 9 Swamps anyway (though not accounting for fetching).

Yeah, I dropped Mold Demon and added Gobbling Ooze but this new guy goes straight in to bolster Thelon's rank ranks of mold. :D

Also replacing Stench of Decay with Ulcerate (or at least trying out). Even though Stench is flavorful, all it does is kill all saprolings and make thallids sad.

Why not just go with Bile Blight ? I see it in your maybe board there, and it still won't bring your deck above $50. A little harder to cast with double black, but it gives you something that can battle opposing tokens (just so long as you're not up against enemy saps!), even 3/3 beasts.

I like the addition of Shriveling Rot , by the way. Funky card. Response to opposing board wipe, or if they try to chump block a token army?

Bile Blight is in, one of the few "sweepers" in the deck. :)

Shriveling Rot is tricky card, depending how much mana I have available. Most of the time it's just "your creatures get deathtouch" but in the late game it can also cause some serious harm when someone clears the board and suddenly people take tons of damage from their creatures.

It's always fun when you have only a few sleazy mushrooms and opponent decides to attack you with his big fattie. Then suddenly there are saprolings and everybody is dying and taking a lot of damage. :P

Would Sporeback Troll be good in this deck? It doesn't classify as a fungus but I think it fits the theme and lets you regen your bigger guys.

I did have some spore-related creatures in the beginning, such as Spore Frog and Sporecap Spider , but I want to keep this as a tribal deck (even tho' there are some oozes around). :)

You know you can have this card as your commandeer right?

+1 for the name of the deck, you really should add some Cthulhu here... Lorthos, the Tidemaker

But for real - what about Genesis Hydra ?

Yikes! Looks like something was terribly broken in the description code.

That old scramble of html was a complete abomination so had to clean it up a bit, should be working again. Huzzah!

I so plan to build this, +1

This is still the best deck I have encountered ever. So flavorful and I love the thought and dedication behind this. Amazing!

This is awesome! I love it, going to build this as well as a BU HP Lovecraft deck. Thank you for the hard work of putting it together!

Fangorian : It looks like the price of your deck is coming down in value overall. You might be able to sneak in some more pricey/powerful cards in without breaking your budget (or theme).

Good point there. Just replaced Manaplasm with Scavenging Ooze and still rolling under $50!

One card I really would like to include is Toxic Deluge but I don't see it's price going down unless it gets reprint in some future set. :/

Congrats on the upgrade. But bummer about Toxic Deluge. That puppy probably isn't getting a reprint anytime soon.

Nice list! I'm currently building thelon myself. I didn't see it any of the previous comments but have you considered Necrotic Ooze? I think he goes pretty well with fungi in the yard not sure if he breaks your budget though. Lets you get a bit more value out of the saproling sac effects as well as some of the other oozes abilities. Anyway, I really like your list and am excited to see what the future holds for this deck.
