Trying some stuff out —Aug. 26, 2016

Starting with:

-1 Mountain

+1 Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle

-3 Geier Reach Sanitarium Reason: Need to make a four-color mana base, so this, I feel, has to go.

+3 Steam Vents Part of the manabase revamp. We need blue. We need mountains for Valakut. This does both.

-2 Devastating Summons This is the worst of our sac spells. Getting rid of two of these makes room for:

+2 Bring to Light This pulls double-duty as either a sac spell, or recursion. Part of the reason for adding blue. It could even be a cobra!

-4 Tireless Tracker Switching these out for a different draw engine.

+4 Trade Routes Another reason for our blue splash. Our alternative draw engine, which draws from discarding lands. This is a much cheaper draw engine, and allows us to use lands in our hand, which would usually be dead. Ultimately, the draw engine may consist of some mix of Trackers, Trade Routes, and Gitrogs, but testing will be needed to know for sure.

EDIT: After testing with this list, it is much better than what was here before. Tempted to drop the last devastating summons for another Bring to Light. As much as I didn't want to make this into a scapeshift deck, I have to say, Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle allows us to win even if the combo bricks. We don't have to go through our entire deck, like I was originally trying to do.. We just need a scapeshift.
