Note from Caley- I am declaring this an auto pick. Unless I hear serious debate in very short order, I will post a new draft article much sooner than I usually do.

This article is a follow-up to The Daily Draft Debate 1/9 The next article in this series is The Daily Draft Debate 1/11 and 1/12

CLEARLY Ruinous Minotaur . New article goes up in an hour if I hear no serious disagreement with this choice.

mm the only other one i would consider is card:Trapfinder's Trick. But not using it to remove traps ,more of an early game play to see what your opponent is playing.

But yes the minotaur is a better pick.

Don't discount the berserker. A 2/1 for 2 is par for the course in zen. I can't believe there's still a sell-sword in here... Post that new article, though. You'll have no argument from me.

I dunno I kind of think Ruinous Minotaur is, bad. It has RR which makes use heavy red, and you dont ever really want to 'attack' with it. I like Highland Berserker here, it's not too late for us to get some Allies, and it's a fine 2/1, AND it's a 2-cost creature, which you want like eleventy billion of in this format. If we get a turn 3 Minotaur and a turn 4 living tsunami, what kind of clock are we putting on OURSELVES? I don't like it at all.

Highland Berserker

Dissent at the last moment! I'll leave it open a little longer.

I think Minotaur is solid in draft. Later in the game you can indeed swing with him for 5, and until then, he's a decent block of meat.

Soz! I truely don't care enough and vote we move to the next pack!

April 7, 2010 2 a.m.

Yeah i am good w/ the minotaur, lets see whats next.

April 7, 2010 2 a.m.

Since this is still open suppose things went very differently and we started w/ black not white, and had black, blue, and red cards, or even black blue and green cards. That makes this pack more intersting. Do you go Nimana Sell-Sword or Ruinous Minotaur . I have been running a side experiment where i drafted black in round 1 as that was my preference then, and it has drastically altered the rest of the draft. So as an interesting academic question which do you prefer and why?

April 7, 2010 2:07 a.m.

err... that second option was supposed to be black red and green not black blue and green... oops

April 7, 2010 2:08 a.m.

KrazyCaley says... #14

Nimana Sell-Sword isn't a very valuable ally for two reasons- 1- there aren't too many allies in black, and 2- for its effect, it's expensive in limited. The reason Oran-Rief Survivalist and Kazandu Blademaster are great are that they cost 2.

Sorry for all you minotaur lovers out there, but I'm also going for Highland Berserker . The double red cost and the drawback of sac'ing the land if he does get through is just something that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Hell, I'd rather even have card:Trapfinder's Trick over it just to see their hand. But still, Highland Berserker gets my vote. Helps shut down any opponent who is scrounging for allies for a draft-ally deck too.
