Shape the Sands
Instant
Target creature gets +0/+5 and gains reach until end of turn. (It can block creatures with flying.)

wolfhead Thanks for the suggestions! Going into blue is definitely tempting but the one thing I actually own in paper is the abzan mana base, so that would be tough on the wallet. Man Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive seems sweet tho. Shape the Sands and Concealing Curtains Flip both seem sweet, but I'm at a loss on what I could swap them for. Really great suggestions!

Oh man well I gotta bring up Aegis Turtle again, I love that card and blue also gets you Sidisi's Faithful, Contraband Kingpin, and Deputy of Detention,
But Concealing Curtains Flip is sweet, and what feels way back in the day I even ran Disowned Ancestor who was okay in board stalls,
Lagonna-Band Trailblazer is cool with stuff like Shape the Sands,
And hear me out, a card that works great with both tower defense and ensnaring bridge is Ornithopter.
Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive does as well.
Gilded Goose gets sweet as your mana curve gets lower,
Permeating Mass cracks me up if you focus more on assault formation and High Alert, But ive never gotten around to trying it.
And I guess Brokers Initiate is just a strict upgrade to Yoked Ox with her mana sink?
Arboreal grazer is sweet I'd definitely keep him and some harbingers
And I know it's a non-bo with collected company but I gotta make the obligatory statement about how sweet Lingering Souls is with tower defense,
Though is it too slow nowadays even with bridge? Shit I feel old. At least it can chump a giant murktide for a while

@ TheLordOfTime: Thanks for the Up-vote and the suggestion. I might try it out but in an older version I played Aegis of the Heavens and to pump only one creature for additional 7 (or in the case of Shape the Sands 5) points of damage isn't worth the card slot.

This is a great deck. I took a hiatus from MTG 4 years ago to start playing D&D. Now some of my D&D friends are wanting to play EDH. One of my favorite decks I ever made was one built around Assault Formation, and seeing Arcades/your deck has really inspired me to start playing again. I see that you're liking Tower Defense in this build, but have you seen Shape the Sands? It doesn't give reach, but it's a fantastic one-drop. It might be nice to have in addition to Tower Defense.

I don’t think Hardened Scales is worth it when only Steelbane Hydra benefits by having one more counter... seems weak.
I feel like you need more ramp to get your plan into action quicker. I’d be dropping Shape the Sands (it feels like a win-more card), and the beforementioned Scales, for some mana dorks. Arbor Elf could work great with Utopia Sprawl

That being said, solid includes in general include Abbey Matron , Brightling , Ensouled Scimitar (probably too slow but hey, +5/5 is wicked), if you're up against someone going wide, Give No Ground could be good, Honor Guard is really not bad, Might of Oaks is wicked, Ornamental Courage is Giant Growth with a free untap, Shape the Sands is super Giant Growth, Shield Mate is a solid bluff, Steady Aim is super Titanic Growth , Thornling , and Abzan Beastmaster ?

Sylvan Caryatid is important to get mana setup and I believe should be a staple in a bant defender deck. It is a defenders deck's Birds of Paradise . The hexproof makes it hard to remove and it can be targeted by it's controller "unlike creatures with shroud." This means Assault Formation can target it. Other cards that may help your strategy are Shape the Sands , and these four creatures even though they don't have defender Abzan Beastmaster , Benthic Infiltrator , Elusive Krasis and Dragon's Eye Savants .

Hi, this is a very cool deck, I quite like it!
Some suggestions: Tendershoot Dryad would fit amazingly.
You need more removal, I recommend Swords to Plowshares and completing the playset of Sundering Growth
To fight burn: Faith's Shield
To fight aggro: Ethereal Haze, and Niveous Wisps
To fight flying: Aerial Volley/Shape the Sands
To fight storm: Silence or Damping Sphere
