Modern price drops??!!

I've noted several price drops with Snapcaster Mage, Liliana of the Veil, Tarmogoyf, Scalding Tarn, Verdant Catacombs, and Dark Confidant. I haven't checked any other cards but did visit both TCGPlayer and SCG. Does anyone have an idea as to why we're seeing such drops (Goyf is down to $100 ish for MM1 and MM2 prints, for example)? Would the impending MM17 account for this?

In terms of the Snapcaster Mage/Liliana of the Veil prices, we usually have a lull in modern prices around this time with the lack of tournaments going on.m but I think they are being hit extra hard in anticipation of MM17 reprint where they are almost a shoe in. Almost, not 100% but very likely.

Yea it's out of modern season, best time to buy up through December. They'll climb back up around Febuary ish. If any of those don't see MM17 reprints as well the price will jump up. I remember 80$ Dark Confidants a few years ago.
What'll surprise me is if Bloodghast drops. It's been climbing even in the off season for a few years now.

Dredge has been keeping bloodghast's price up it was doing alright before kaladesh and now it's just.... <3

Should I be investing in Snapcasters now? I need them to finish my grixis control deck.

If u have use for them and have the cash on hand, then I don't see a down side. Outside of MM limited runs, he's never gonna get a reprint, and he's good in a slew of decks should you decide to play something else.

Now would be a fantastic time to grab Snapcaster. If it sees a reprint in MM3, it may go a little lower, but is sees enough play as a 2x of and sometimes 4x of that it's value will hold long term.

I'm thinking about waiting until MM3. How far do you think the price will drop?

Thing is, if for some weird reason wotc DOESNT print it in MM3, it's going to skyrocket over night. Zendikar fetches reached a low right before battle for zendikar spoiled, and when it became clear that fetches weren't included the price shot up 50% and has continued to rise. Now, there is a high likelihood of snappy seeing mm3 print, so it's your call, ID just hate to be wrong.

Most likely (in terms of goyf) you are looking at buy now prices like tcg market price and the prices listed. These are common prices 120-130 is just trade value honestly. It could be but the only noticeable drop I have seen is snapcaster
