Worthless or not?

Okay... So I have been thinking about this card:

XXXX

Instant - Rare

Exile XXXX from your hand: Draw a card

(Spells without mana cost can't be played)

Yes, that's it. This would make your deck become a 56 card deck. But it can be a little risky to have in your opening hand...

The reason it has exile and not 0 in mana cost, is because it then can't be used for storm.

Would this card be played?

I'd play this card in most modern decks. It makes combo super good. For standard, I'd say it's fine, but probably not ideal because you could be using those spots for more utility.

Yes, it would definitely be played. It would be like another Gitaxian Probe for some decks, plus the fact that you don't cast it means that you can get around Rule of Law or counterspells. Either way, it will never happen since it reduces your deck size, similarly to the ante cards.

Yea even if it doesn't bump your storm count it gets you a free card which will then storm more. I think this is too strong for anything but Standard, where it would just be decent.

You really think it is too strong? It doesn't give you any advantage like Gitaxian Probe. But it also doesn't give you any life!

Yes, it would make the deck a 56 deck. But it still has the downside, that you don't know, what you will draw, when you have it in your starting hand!

It could might be too good in a combo deck. But would it be played in other decks? :D

The problem is that it would be played in every combo deck, at least in Modern. Additionally, it could be used in any deck regardless of color, and with no penalties.

No one is really using Street Wraith, but getting rid of the life loss might be enough to make it see play.

I think everyone is kind of overestimating the card power here. Sure, it reduces your deck size. So does Street Wraith. Plus Street Wraith stays in the game to potentially be used by other effects later. The downside to both of these cards is that they make opening hands in general worse, and mulligan decisions much more difficult. Say you're playing Modern storm. This is your opening hand;

Serum Visions, Serum Visions, Desperate Ritual Pyromancer Ascension, XXXX, XXXX, Mountain.

You're on the play. Do you keep this hand? It looks pretty tempting, right? But say you keep, and your XXXX draws Goblin Electromancer and a Past in Flames. Suddenly not so good of a hand. If those two cards you drew were in your opener instead of XXXX, wouldn't you rather have mulliganed to find a blue source, making all your cantrips active?

Maybe I'm wrong, but yeah, this feels like a functional Street Wraith, which isn't very good, even in most combo decks.
