So I had an idea for a commander and I have no idea whether or not it's busted, and I just wanted to ask here to see what you guys think.

Ciarrin Veltheim | 4WG

Legendary Creature-Elf Druid

Defender

Whenever you gain life, add that much G or W in any combination to your mana pool.

T: You gain 2 life.

2/8

Does this sound good, or did I break it too much?

I think its fine its not broken its definitely pretty decent if you build around it and there are things with this that just win you the game but you have to build your deck around them.

Trostani is now a crazy mana ramper. Add Alhammarret's Archive as a second (or third) Mana Reflection

Heroes' Reunion sure makes this look great.

It would be incredibly easy for her to go infinite. However, GW doesn't have a lot in can do with infinite mana, so that shouldn't be a problem. Neither should the lifegain, since most top tier commander decks win either via commander damage or an infinite combo. Therefor, sounds pretty balanced.

I think some hydras could make this commander pretty fun. I just wanted to check. The original was actually "Creatures you control get +1/+1 for each creature that doesn't share a color with it" lol.

Plus, it makes Cathedral Sanctifier into a Selesnya Dark Ritual.

Genesis Wave automatic include. Chalice of Life  Flip is now a cool looking mana rock.

It's a huge value improver for GW lifegain. I wouldn't call it broken because if Standard and Modern are medieval battles, EDH is a thermonuclear exchange. It's a fair, but exceptionally powerful commander.

In practice, I wouldn't get too attached to using it. I can see this drawing removal. I can see your Highlander deck part of EDH needing to pull a lot of weight, so bear that in mind.

It's in the same realm of cost as Mana Reflection, which is much easier to abuse, and doesn't even see that much play, so it definitely isn't broken. It can be cast repeatedly from the Command Zone, so that's a plus, but it will also draw a lot more ire than many other commanders.

Also, the text should be "Whenever you gain life, add that much mana in any combination of Green or White mana to your mana pool."

I'm actually considering dropping the cost on him because, even with mana ramp, he'd be much better as a 3-4 drop instead of a 6 drop. I can never get him out on time when I actually NEED ramp.

I think he is super broken. There are so many big lifegain spells that you could easy build a deck with him of lifegain spells and big creatures. I dont even start with the possible combos....i think you should make him a 2/5 without defender. make his mana cost , and his lifegain abillity: Whenever you gain life, add one mana of any color to your mana pool. that would be still very good but also balanced enough. Atleast in my book. :P

or make him atleast tap for that crazy ramp abillity...

Nah, 6-drop is fair. It's a fat creature with an insane ability that can easily allow you to combo out the very next turn. At 4 mana, it truly would be broken.

Yeah, I guess I just need to toss more mana rocks into the deck. The earliest I can get him out with the current build is turn 5, and that's with no disruption.
