Vorosh, the Hunter (PLEASE help)

I really, really want to make an EDH deck out of Vorosh, the Hunter. He's a great combination of colors, with solid damage and flying, who only gets THAT much stronger. My question is, how can I protect him? I've played with him in other EDH decks (never as a general), and as soon as he comes into the field, he gets removed. What can I use B/U/G to protect him RELIABLY?
I kinda wanted to stay away from counterspells. That being said, I'm adding Asceticism , Darksteel Plate , Lightning Greaves , and a few umbras. Thanks, seriously.

card:Champion's Helm should be in every EDH deck. Also, Swiftfoot Boots are pretty nice.

[[vines of vastwood] and Withstand Death are also good.

Asceticism , Darksteel Plate , Shield of Kaldra , card:Champion's Helm, Swiftfoot Boots , Lightning Greaves , Whispersilk Cloak .

Withstand Death is awful, use something that will benefit you more like Darksteel Plate or even Shield of Kaldra . Throw in every Sword of ... you have.

Use a decent amount of blue counter spells, such as Turn Aside and Hexproofing from green, such as Asceticism . Then you'll want a Darksteel Plate and such for cards like Wrath of God . You can also use totem armor auras from green, like Spider Umbra . Don't look for black because it doesn't do anything for protection.
