How Good is Meteor Crater in EDH?

I have a copy of Reflecting Pool in all of my EDH decks, because it simply is too good to not have in them, but I am wondering about Meteor Crater, which is very similar, but not quite the same.

All of my three-colored decks contain the appropriate triple land (Arcane Sanctum, Mystic Monastery, and so forth), but those lands enter the battlefield tapped whereas the crater does not. However, on the other hand, the crater is highly dependent upon the state of the battlefield, whereas the triple lands produce their mana unconditionally, so I am uncertain about what to do.

What does everyone else say about this? How good of a card is Meteor Crater in EDH?

In most games the first 3-4 turns are comprised of mana ramp in the form of putting lands into play or rocks into play. For that reason it's bad.

Its very bad if you have a bad board state.

DeinoStinkus, griffstick, smackjack, I thank you very much for the advice, and I am glad that you have saved me money that I would have spent on that card.

ugh, i like to go against the majority and root for the underdog jank card
but in this case i have to agree with everyone, also personal preference i do not like Reflecting Pool
for me the point of a multi colored land is to be used for color correction,
since nether of these lands can provide a color you don't already have access to they have limited function.

in casual play i would pick the tapped tri color lands over these
In casual play tapped lands are ok to play on turns 1,2 and after 5.
it is very important that turns 3,4,5 to play an untapped land
becouse these decks tend to run a cmc average of 3.5 with very little turn 1 and 2 plays

if your thinking about running more competitively i would not suggest any of these lands.

You can get Exotic Orchard for less than Meteor Crater and if you're playing multicolored decks against 3+ people the odds are it is going to do most of what Reflecting Pool does for much less of a monetary investment, and unless you destroy literally all your opponent's lands it'll make mana after a Planar Cleansing.

If you're already running them then I'm sorry for presuming. It just seemed to me like a better budget option.

It is a rainbowland that enters untapped and doesn't have drawbacks of pain/enemy gain. It is a bad land for the 1st 2nd or 3rd turn, which slightly raises your # of mulligans due to weird land hands.

One thing to really consider with this land is that it works best with builds that want their commander to be in play frequently. Anytime your commander is in, it provides 100% color access. It will also serve you better with permanent heavy decks as opposed to spell slinger decks. I also recommend including multiple permanent types (creatures, enchantments, even colored artifacts) to avoid having this land turn off from a wipe like Wrath of God. Its a solid budget land for 3 color decks if you're looking for rainbow colors.
