Does anyone use this combo?

Why haven't I seen anyone use this combo:

Enter the Infinite+Firestorm

Doesn't this just kill everyone on the spot? Just cast Enter the Infinite with 1 R mana open and then you will have Firestorm in hand, then shoot everyone for however much?

Yeah I've seen it there's someone at my LGS who runs it in an EDH deck.

There's also the black variant Ad Nauseam with just literally a ton of lands and Sickening Dreams

Both work well with Dark Sphere which you can tap to take half the damage leaving you the only one alive

One of my buddies runs Firestorm in his The Locust God deck as a win condition. Enter the Infinite is a lot of mana is probably why you don't ever see specifically it and Firestorm. But yes, provided it resolves and no one is above how many cards you have to discard it kills everyone.

Firestorm requires x number of targets

Also apparently you can't discard more card than you have targets. I just looked the card up to make sure i knew the new wording on it. So if there are only 20 legal targets, you can only do 20 damage.

Can't you just target the same player multiple times?

Nope, you can only target something once for each instance of the word "target".

114.3. The same target can’t be chosen multiple times for any one instance of the word “target” on a spell or ability. If the spell or ability uses the word “target” in multiple places, the same object, player, or zone can be chosen once for each instance of the word “target” (as long as it fits the targeting criteria). This rule applies both when choosing targets for a spell or ability and when changing targets or choosing new targets for a spell or ability (see rule 114.7).

So it doesn't work the way I thought...good to know. Thanks

It works if you replace Firestorm with Conflagrate.

Not necessarily, Conflagrate divides the damage between targets.

Firestorm works in Locust God lists, for whatever that's worth. Set up a draw combo, exile Simian Spirit Guide or something, then cast Firestorm targeting your opponents and a big number of insect tokens for the win.

So you can still do this combo, but I think it'd be easiest in Locust God. Plus you have other efficient methods to draw cards too that you could use to win in that deck.
