Note: Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Undying's interaction with Persist may be convoluted, so to alleviate any confusion: When a Creature with both Undying and Persist dies, say River Kelpie with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, both effects will trigger, put the effect you would like to happen, say Undying, on top of the other. River Kelpie will return upon the resolution of Undying with a +1/+1 Counter, Persist will not resolve as River Kelpie has left the graveyard. Now when River Kelpie dies again, if he still has a +1/+1 Counter you must resolve Persist first to return him to play.
