Teaching Kids to Play - Step One Deck B

Casual* Casual Mono-Green

Fimbrethil

This beginner deck, along with its companion Deck A, is intended to teach a child under 10 to play MTG. This is 40 cards for simplicity and it's really just cards I had lying around, any of them can be replaced with comparable cards from other sets. It's extremely simple and focuses on teaching vocabulary, turn order, P/T, mana cost and management, combat basics, and reading your cards carefully. This is the first lesson, so it excludes everything but creatures, lands, and sorceries. This is the more complex of the two decks and should be the second one given to the child, but power levels of the two are very comparable so both have a chance at winning. Play with hands exposed, play slowly, and explain every little detail as you go, along with strategies and using life points as a resource (i.e. why it's sometimes a good idea to not block with your Llanowar Elves). The only vanilla mechanic included here is trample. After these two, each new deck will include two vanilla mechanics. Suggestions are always welcome.
