Sideboard

Welcome to Kaldheim, land of Sagas and Swords. This deck, however, focuses upon the latter as the mythical races of the Ten Realms band together to do glorious battle.

This deck is all about endurance in the face of sometimes overwhelming odds, and the swords are the key. Halvar, God of Battle   empowers all equipped creatures while Sword of the Realms   and its maker Koll, the Forgemaster returns all defeated equipped creatures to your hand. In effect, an equipped creature can be defeated, re-cast and re-equipped indefinitely if it wields the Sword of the Realms or Koll is on the field - not unlike Valhalla where according to myth Norse heroes continually rise again in and endless cycle of fighting by day and feasting by night. And this can get very expensive for your opponents, since one can afford to lose creatures much more readily. Using this trick in compo with Story Seeker, for example, provides theoretically limitless Lifegain. Gods are immortal after all, so cheating death is a must, and Cosmos Elixir adds to this.

What happens if you do not draw Halvar, God of Battle  /Sword of the Realms  ? Well, with two of them in the deck plus Koll and a Forging the Tyrite Sword, you probably will. If fortune does not favor you, though, that is what the other swords are for, along with a solid flock of flyers. Beyond this, the deck is self explanatory. Equip swords to creatures to empower them and, even if that creatures dies and dos not return, the sword stays on the battlefield and can be attached to its successor. Forebear's Blade is a perfect example of this, Ancestral Blade creates its own creature to equip itself to upon casting, while Sigiled Sword of Valeron and Esika's Chariot provides a swarm feature. Meanwhile, Vega, the Watcher and Toski, Bearer of Secrets will keep cards coming to your hand. Furthermore, the deck hosts a few prison/disruption elements. Namely Bound in Gold, Broken Wings, and Reidane, God of the Worthy  /Valkmira, Protector's Shield
