Sideboard

Welcome to Pacific Rim. Pacific Rim is a Mono Blue deck with the the incentive of getting the giant sea creatures out. Some say it cannot be done but in this deck there are plenty of tactics to help you reach that goal.

Tactic number one is to tap opponents creatures with cards such as Tidebinder Mage and Wavecrash Triton until you can get to the big drops. There are plenty of enchantments and spells in this deck to trigger Tritons effect such as, Aqueous Form and Hidden Strings as well as Ordeal of Thassa . Other Control cards include Frost Breath .

Another tactic to use is draw/scry power to fish for land as well as creatures. You can cast cards such as Thassa's Emissary equip it with Aqueous Form and have Bident of Thassa on the field. This combo allows you to swing for unblockable damage, then draw two cards and scry one. Don't Forget Ordeal of Thassa !

There is quite a bit of removal in this deck to make sure you can stall for enough time to get those wicked sea creatures. Spells featured in this section would be Essence Scatter and Negate to keep them on their toes.

Now that you have gotten the big guys onto the field let us discuss different strategies you can use with them. The featured cards of this category are Sealock Monster , Colossal Whale, and the king himself Shipbreaker Kraken .

Strategy number one would be to first cast Sealock Monster get up to seven Island and make him monstrous. He gains +3/+3 and turns an enemy land into an Island Which allows him to attack. At this point he is an 8/8 wrecking ball and even more scary if you equipped Aqueous Form. Next turn summon Colossal Whale this guy is now unblockable and every time you attack you get to exile one of your opponents creatures!

The second strategy is just to get Shipbreaker Kraken out on the field. With him the game can always swing in you're favor.

Let me also remind you of Thassa, God of the Sea! She allows you to scry every upkeep and for one Island and one other mana you can make any creature you have unblockable. SOMEONE STOP THIS CARD!
