Fun format where different Artists Theme Decks beats each other is the main idea =) I and my friend want to try this format. My friend favorite artist is Swanland (jeez so many unreal and powerfull cards he painted) and my all time favorite artist, yeah, Brom. Just look at this dark gothic/fantasy arts! But looking through my collection, I realize that best option is to make mono black, or black/red deck with Mogg Fanatic, Mogg Flunkies and Latuula, Keldon Overseer (rules for basic land dont limit you to use only basics by this artist, so you could make splash or 2-3 colors). But as first take, Ill try this mono black fullBrom deck (with Swamps by his paint))
So the main Idea of this deck is to make synergy around this cards: Oath of Ghouls, Blood Pet, Keeper of the Dead, Altar of Dementia + discard outlets Greel, Mind Raker and Hidden Horror.
First few turns we just put some acceleration and something as Blood Pet, Keeper of the Dead, Hidden Horror. Then cast Oath and try to return some relevant cards in hand. When we have Altar of Dementia in play. we could cycle our creatures and return them in upkeep phase to win game by milling our opponent.
For protection we have the best cards! Platinum Angel + Bubble Matrix, only exile and/or specific hate cards could beat this prison.
For long games we have Reiver Demon as sweeper and Volrath's Laboratory for making tokens.
