Also , instead of Rancor , you could easily use Solidarity of Heroes , which also has strive! so you can double the counters on many creatures. In a nutshell , here is my upvote and have fun at your local store!

Thanks Kenthris. Solidarity of Heroes has been playtested in the deck quite a bit and was found to underperform a lot of the time. When things come together around it right, it's awesome. But the rest of the time, you're just kind of sitting on it. I'm still keeping it handy. As the deck evolves, it may grow in usefulness again. We shall see!

Also a note on Vines of Vastwood because of the wording you can use it on your opponents creatures to make it so they cant be targeted by your opponent. Example: If your opponent played a nice enchantment or something you could cast Vines of Vastwood and the enchantment would fizzle. Kinda adds alittle more utility.

Wow, that's kind of a hack. I like that a lot. Glad I swapped so many in!

Definitely ordering this deck next paycheck.

Awesome! You'll be happy to know it's fairly cheap, and also effective and fun. Might not win tournaments, but you'll enjoy the hell out of it.

I think it's like $25 with the sideboard included if you use TCGPlayer's cart optimizer.

Also I love rebound cards. Target creature, cast Prey's Vengeance, Beginning of next turn cast it again for free. 2 heroic triggers for 1 mana.

I could see how you could easily abuse that in this deck. Target your Heroic on their turn to block, Rebound it on your turn, attack for a lot!

Come to think of it, that might actually be better in almost every situation than Giant Growth.

Definitely :)

Yeah, I've added Prey's Vengeance to the sideboard for now, but only because I have to order it before I can test it. There's a very good chance it's going mainboard over Giant Growth. Credited you unseen_enemy in the deck breakdown.

You da man.

At least personally, I would run Surrak, the Hunt Caller instead of Staunch-Hearted Warrior. The heroic's great, but he's very powerful, and playing a Centaur Battlemaster immediately afterwards...yeah.

Have you seen Ulvenwald Tracker before?

April 2, 2015 5:30 p.m.

Sagarys says... #17

I can definitely see the merits. If I ever gets my hands on him, I'll try him out.

Yeah unseen_enemy, he was in the very first build. He actually proved to be pretty ineffective after testing. I've gone through a few one drops. For him specifically, he's very weak against burn and I don't want to waste my pump spells keeping him alive, and for the first few turns after he's cast he doesn't do anything because you're choosing between paying for his ability or casting a Heroic creature/something that will trigger Heroic. Shockingly, I wish he actually cost more so I could put him in for a board clearing option later in the game. If he was a 4 drop, he'd be right in there over Staunch-Hearted Warrior.

(and obviously came with the body of a 4 drop)

With so many sources of trample you could replace x2 Tuskguard Captain with x2 Ulvenwald Tracker. Sure the fight doesnt trigger heroic but it is an reusable instant which is really nice.

April 2, 2015 5:35 p.m.

Sagarys says... #21

That's actually not a bad idea. The Captain is really useful, but I don't think he's 4 copies useful now that I have Bramblewood and Rancor. Good call. I'm actually gonna make that swap. I've gotten into situations in games that go long where I'd kill for an extra fight or two to bring the board state back into my favor.

well, another good card , is Champion of Lambholt. It gives you devotion for Aspect of Hydra and in late game , it can grant you unblockable creatures PLUS it is a warrior... So , I would mind taking out Ulvenwald Tracker. He is much vulnerable to simple burns and he doesn't even getting stronger :)

April 2, 2015 6:36 p.m.

unseen_enemy says... #23

I think Champion of Lambholt is just to slow for this deck and Prey's Vengeance i better than Aspect of Hydra since he doesn't have THAT much devotion.

April 2, 2015 6:47 p.m.

Sagarys says... #24

I agree with unseen_enemy here. Champion of Lambholt is an awesome card. But having played this deck as much as I have, I can tell you, by the time you're trying to swing for the win, she might be a 3/3. Because more than half the creatures in the deck come out before her or at the same time as her. On turn 3, Hero of Leina Tower could already be a 4/4 or if you hit her with Prey's Vengeance a 5/5.

7/7 with the actual Prey's Vengeance buff.
