Verazol, the Split Current

Legendary Creature — Serpent

Verazol, the Split Current enters the battlefield with a +1/+1 counter on it for each mana spent to cast it.

Whenever you cast a kicked spell, you may remove two +1/+1 counters from Verazol. If you do, copy that spell. You may choose new targets for the copy. (A copy of a permanent spell becomes a token.)

Considering the high costs of all your cards I would Highly suggest Skyclave Relic to provide you ramp and still have kicker synergies for the deck. The card is also great as the artifact is indestructible, so not many cards will remove this mana source.

A number of your cards are not very strong and you may want to consider cutting for the purpose of splashing a color for more affordable (mana value) cards. Pending on if you want to make your deck more agressive or controlling would change up the suggested cards. I tink you could make a decent control deck splashing black, but also a decent creature focused deck if you went for red/green splash.

Control options splashing black: Bloodchief's Thirst, Skyclave Shade, Inscription of Ruin, & Rona's Vortex.

Creture deck options splashing red/green: Vodalian Mindsinger, Inscription of Abundance, Untamed Kavu, Yavimaya Iconoclast, Battlewing Mystic, Hallar, the Firefletcher, Verazol, the Split Current

Cards I would definetly cut: Cunning Geysermage, Field Research, Sea Gate Stormcaller (<-unless you splash black)

The suggested cards are just me showing some options you may have overlooked. I think your deck is built to easily go with the black splash suggestios and the creature variant would be a different deck entirely.

Best of luck with the deck.

seshiro_of_the_orochi on Cards that getting stronger

"Getting stronger as the game progresses" is such an unspecific attribute, it's hard to give an answer.

You could go into the X-spell direction, using Zaxara, the Exemplary or Rosheen Meanderer.

Then, there are +1 counter cards that could grow stronger and can be proliferated.

I'd love to give you fitting input, but I need more context. Is there anything giving? Maybe a commander you want to build around? For kicker, that could be Hallar, the Firefletcher or Verazol, the Split Current

I'm afraid I have to tell you your statement about countering commanders is incorrect. The mana value is not equivalent to the mana spent to cast a spell. Cyclonic Rift is still a mana value 2 spell, even when you overload it. If your commander is Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer, you can cast him for the 8th time a game and it's still a mana value 1 spell, making Vanish into the Void still cost 8 to counter it. Only spells with in their cost actually change mana value on the stack.

The fix in wording is easy though: "Vanish into the Void costs less to cast, where is the amount of mana paid for the spell it targets."

We've seen similar wording in cards like Verazol, the Split Current, that would make the card work like you describe you'd want it to work.

Maybe.... Verazol, the Split Current ? Apologies. After reviewing the pool of cards, Verazol's identity won't let you include them in a deck.

Neotrup on Is Multikicker just a form …

Yes. Multikicker is a varient of kicker:

702.32c Multikicker is a variant of the kicker ability. "Multikicker [cost]" means "You may pay an additional [cost] any number of times as you cast this spell." A multikicker cost is a kicker cost.

Casting a kicked Everflowing Chalice will trigger Verazol, the Split Current .

Can I copy an Everflowing Chalice with Verazol, the Split Current ? Or are Multikicker and Kicker separate keywords that don't interact?

defamagraphy1 I am just catching up and I really like the Verazol, the Split Current with Sea Gate Stormcaller. I might see if I can work that in.

Actually, I think you want to do Verazol, the Split Current alongside Sea Gate Stormcaller and this is why. X=0 so Verazol costs two just like Stormcaller. If you spent just GU, and X=0 it enters the battlefield with 2 +1/+1 counters on it. If you remove the counters to copy it sends itself back to the graveyard to be replayed by Lurrus. it can also copy kicked perms as well. And late game can be replayed as a larger threat.
