Protean Hulk combo question

I was looking at some combo options with Protean Hulk and was wondering if fetching Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Walking Ballista would result in infinte damage to my opponents or would the Ballista die and not be returned with Mikaeus's ability?

Only would work if you have a free sac outlet in play. Anyone would work, Ashnod's Altar , Phyrexian Altar , Goblin Bombardment , Blasting Station , Viscera Seer , or any other permanent that let's you sacrifice creatures for free.
Both would enter play. "Mike" and a 1/1 ballista with no counters.
Sacrifice the ballista, it reanimates, blast something for 1, repeat till done.

Neither.
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Walking Ballista will enter the battlefield at the same time, Ballista with zero counters on it. Because they enter at the same time, Ballista does benefit from Mikaeus' ability that grants undying.
The problem is that the very same ability that grants undying also gives the Walking Ballista +1/+1. So Ballista will enter the battlefield as a 1/1 with no counters on it.
If that +1/+1 wasn't there, then the Walking Ballista would indeed come back due to undying with a counter on it, which you could remove to ping someone and kill the Ballista, allowing it to come back with undying again, for a repeatable combo. But because that +1/+1 is there, the Ballista is just a tiny bit too big for this to work. You'll need another effect that gives all your creatures -1/-1 to counter it.
