Sure. Say you have New Prahv Guildmage and you equip it with Illusionist's Bracers . When you activate either ability of the guildmage, Illusionist's bracers creates another copy of the ability on the stack. You can choose new targets for the copy. So, if say the enemy has two creatures, you could detain both for 3WU or give two creatures flying for WU.

However, Illusionist's Bracers will not work on triggered abilities (such as Boros Reckoner 's first ability), replacement effects (such as Blood Scrivener 's ability), static abilities (such as Elvish Archdruid 's first ability) or mana abilities (such as Elvish Archdruid's second ability).

An activated ability is always written as "Cost : Effect". Some examples on creatures include Shivan Dragon , Bloodthrone Vampire , and Prodigal Pyromancer . This is the only kind of ability Illusionist's Bracers can copy. Triggered abilities (always start with "when/whenever/at") or static abilities (anything that's not activated or triggered) aren't copied.

A mana ability is an ability that doesn't have targets, isn't a loyalty ability (of a planeswalker), and adds mana to your mana pool. The Bracers can't copy the ability of Avacyn's Pilgrim , but it can copy the ability of Arbor Elf (doesn't add mana) or Deathrite Shaman (has a target).

So whenever you activate an ability of the equipped creature and it isn't a mana ability, the Bracers will make a copy of that ability and let you choose new targets for the copy (if it has targets).

Any creature that has a trigger ability or tap ability excluding tap for mana, the ability is copied when equiped. Mana abilities refer to abilities that directly generate mana. Interesting fact Arbor elf fall through this loophole because he dosnt directly generate mana.
