Can I use fetch-lands to pull out Dryad Arbor?
Asked by Thedren_The_Inquisitor 12 years ago
Dryad Arbor 's typing states Land Creature-Forest Dryad,.. And on the gatherer one of the ruling texts says "Forest is the land type of Dryad Arbor ." So my question is that can I pull it out of my deck with The Onslaught-Zendikar Fetch Lands? Misty Rainforest , and Wooded Foothills clearly say Forest, so can they get Dryad Arbor ? If not please explain to me why not

You absolutely may. If the card states that it is a forest, then any card that says you can search for a "forest" card will let you get any card that contains the card type "forest".

I can guarantee that people have. Maybe not a lot but definitely happens.

I guess it's one of those small things people don't think about until it's used on them, I was making a Simic Tempo deck on here and searched for Forest and it showed up and the lightbulb clicked

actually the Dryad Arbor has summoning sickness, which is the only drawback, it says so on the card sorry

I am aware of that combo, however I am more interested in using fetch lands

Another combo I like to do is having Soul Warden , card:Ajani's Pridemate, and Knight of the Reliquary out. Use the Knight of the Reliquary 's ability to get a Misty Rainforest , use it's ability to get a Dryad Arbor . You make the Knight of the Reliquary and the card:Ajani's Pridemate bigger at the end of their turn.

The reason people don't use fetch's to get dryad arbor is that it is affected by summoning sickness. Fetching arbor is considerably worse than just fetching a basic forest and playing say a Llanowar Elves or card:Avacyn's Pilgrim

I wouldn't call it worse but it is something you have to do when you are not needing to use all mana in one turn, I think that there is gigantic strategic uses for it being fetchable, instant speed chump blocker, guaranteed creature when you need it seems good to me
