Awaken rulings

I have a question about about how lands are treated after you pay the Awaken cost. So you cast a card that has Awaken and you get (in this example) a 3/3 land with haste. Now your opponent casts some kind of creature removal spell that says "Destroy target creature" and targets the awakened land, does the spell resolve and destroy it? Also would something like End Hostolities have the same effect or because it's still just a land on creatures are affected???

I'm confused then because the Awaken rules on the card state that even though it's it becomes 0/0 elemental with however many +1/+1 counters on it it's still a land!!!
And because it's still a land would it therefore be immune to destroy creature effect cards?!?!

No, it's still a land because it's both a Creature and a Land, like a Dryad Arbor.
If it wasn't a creature, it would have no power or toughness, nor be able to attack or block.

No problem. :)
Of additional note, effects like Awaken and Lumbering Falls don't specify that the land has to be a non-creature. Meaning you could Awaken the same land twice, adding additional +1/+1 counters to it, or activate a manland like Lumbering Falls or Celestial Colonnade before or after Awakening it, to change its base P/T to that listed on the land, on top of gaining the keyword abilities.

Moved. Please remember to link all cards in your question.

Follow up question, just for clarification. If you cast an awaken spell (Sheer Drop) targeting Lumbering Falls while it is already a 3/3 creature, does its base power/toughness get reset to 0/0 until you activate Lumbering Falls again?

Yes. Both effects will set the land's P/T, so you apply the older effect first and the newer effect last. This means that Sheer Drop's effect will take precedence and set the land to a base 0/0, and it will remain that way indefinitely unless it is overwritten by another effect. Each time Lumbering Falls's own ability wears off, the awakening effect will still apply and the land will still be animated as a 0/0.

If you put awaken counters on say Shambling Vent and then activate the vent for the 2/3 lifelink it still gets those +1/+1 counters though... I think? So a Shambling Vent with 4 awaken counters on it can be animated as a 6/7 lifelink or just be used as a 4/4. This is how everyone I know has been playing it, but I'm still not 100%

The counters are just regular +1/+1 counters; they aren't "awakening counters" or anything of that sort. They apply at all times.

Awaken, along with other various land-animating effects, adds the type Creature to your land, making it vulnerable to all effects which affect creatures. This includes cards like Murder, Path to Exile, and Wrath of God.
On the plus side, effects such as Glorious Anthem will also affect them.
