Can someone please explain why Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is a good card i havent been playing for long i started playing MTG during innistrad so i ask you MTG veterans why is a card that makes even your non-creature spells more expensive seems counter productive to me

Thalia is usually played in creature heavy decks, mainly Boros and Naya. It slows down your opponent's deck if they play midrange or control.

She is particularly effective in decks that produce a potential turn 4 or 5 win as Thalia, Guardian of Thraben makes sweepers like Supreme Verdict cost 5 instead of 4 CMC, giving aggro strategies that crucial bit of bought time to finish off an opponent before they can stabalize their position.

Some creatures double as spells like Restoration Angel and Snapcaster Mage , plus lots of others. Thalia rewards you for playing them.

Thalia, Guardian of Thraben does not synergize with Snapcaster Mage ...

yeah, i know but it was just an example. I guess Kessig Malcontents would me more relevant.

I run 4 copies of Thalia, Guardian of Thraben in my g/w aggro build. I can win on turn 4 or 5 consistantly with it and she defnitely helps stabalize the field for early game. The only non-creature cards in my deck are Rancor and Selesnya Charm . I can work around the extra 1 to cast. When I play other creature-heavy decks, she becomes less relevent and is sided out in favor of other cards like Garruk, Primal Hunter and Armada Wurm . but the bottom line is, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben is a good card in the right situations.

shes crippling against decks that want their Farseek or Chromatic Lantern on time. You also make it even harder to remove her the turn she is played, and sice most of your noncreatures are Rancor and charms, she doesn;t hurt you too.
