Did, did they essentially reprint Mana Drain?

Yes I know it's a 2 mana difference but the effect is the same.

Counter target spell.

At the beginning of your next precombat main phase, add X mana in any combination of colors to your mana pool, where X is that spells converted mana cost.

If it's real, yes. I won't believe till I see a picture of it, that conforms to the dragon maze styles... Even then with existing tech, it's easy to fake.

I've come to trust MTGSalvation. They usually check before adding something to their spoiled list.

Fair enough, I'm just being skeptical.

Oh no I completely understand. Just means that I'm going to have to get ahold of some because I can see them being a staple.

It's a good card, yes, but it's nowhere near the power level of Mana Drain . I can see it becoming a staple, but it needs to be properly implemented to offset its heavily saturated cost.

Agreed, I would definitely think it deserves a slot in Dominus - Dreamcrusher Edition.

It wouldn't be very effective in 4-5 color decks but Tri color should have enough fixing for it.

In prime speaker bant they should be awesome. If its real, 3rd on my list behind ral and render silence, for a bug build I have going with [mind grind] ;)

Also, the fact that you get to choose what color mana to produce is pretty important to note here. Mana Drain never allowed that kind of flexibility.

... My jaw dropped. Yes it's alot of mana but good lord, that's alot of mana. For a green/blue like anything deck a few copies will go a long way.

On the draw, hit T4, counter a 4 drop, have 9 mana next turn.

April 14, 2013 8:20 p.m.

I don't think I'll be running it in my BUG deck because it's too expensive to cast, but the effect is still very good.

I think bant would still run Rewind over this just because it leaves mana open for Restoration Angel and Snapcaster Mage plus Azorius Charm I think this is a good card but nowhere near the power people are hyping it to be the only time this card is better is if you counter a 4-6 drop and use the mana to boost your Sphinx's Revelation which people prefer to leave mana open and cast in response to stuff or during their opponents end step there could be more to make this better that hasn't been spoiled yet but as is it is to slow without enough impact in the current standard.

I was super excited... and then I saw the GG in the mana cost, the card is good, but inflexible and players will quickly play around it. For standard 1-2 of, better than rewind though, great in Bant control.

April 14, 2013 9:40 p.m.

It's a good situational counter...much like Counterflux rwu is running. Might never be more than a 2 of card in a deck but when it's cast especially in a match up vs wgx decks with voice of resurgance on the field...it can be pretty solid and lead to a blow out.

@SwiftDeath, that was the longest run-on I've ever seen. Lol.

April 14, 2013 9:49 p.m.

Guys, Mana Drain gave colorless energy for UU. This gives any combination of COLORED mana for just an additional GG. That means I can totally fix my mana up for some awesome surprises. It also gives Simic a counterspell that is viable. I mean, four lands, plus the land drop, and whatever spell you countered, sinking it all into a Sphinx's Revelation or dropping a couple walkers. That's pretty fucking awesome

This plus Voidslime makes Simic a happy guild. Modern tron anyone???

UUGG isn't very hard to come by right now, especially the turn after a Farseek . In fact, if you're playing a Bant midrange deck, you'd have that kind of mana by turn-4 a lot more often than not.

This card will be powerful in Standard. It counters Sphinx's Revelation and lets you cast their Sphinx-Rev for free, at the beginning of your main-phase, with all of your mana still open.

This is undoubtedly one of the strongest cards in the block.

Also, MTGSalvation has never been wrong in the past - It's gotta be 100% real.

April 15, 2013 2:42 a.m.

zandl says... #22

Also, in regards to my first post, that's assuming you're playing Bant and have your own Sphinx's Revelation to cast with their mana.

April 15, 2013 2:43 a.m.

Simic can still use the card effectively, as I'm sure dropping a big fat creature early game using their spell is very beneficial. I mean come on, the chance to cast off a Worldspine Wurm turn 5-6?

zandl says... #24

I'm just thinking of the anti-control applications of this card. They cast something nutty end-of-turn, you counter it with this, and even if they have a counterspell open, you're playing double the spells with all of your mana (which, I might add, you can add in any color).

God. This card makes me horny.

April 15, 2013 3:05 a.m.

lol zandl. To be honest I'm pretty hyped about it myself :D The applications this thing could have in my Simic ramp deck Swaying to the Symphony of Destruction is just awesome :D Gotta figure out what to remove though >.<

pookypuppy6 says... #26

Blimey, I thought Simic already had a U/G counterspell for themselves. And I like Mystic Genesis ! And now they might have this as well, instead of something like a cool bounce spell or something Simic don't have in their arsenal already?

April 15, 2013 7:37 a.m.

Cirdan13 says... #27

Or you could run RUG and counter their Sphinx's Revelation and then throw a big burn spell straight to their face.
