Personally, I feel like a jerk when I counter things. But then, I am the one who actually playa [knowledge pool]]. So I only play removal, and Flashfreeze 'cuz wolf run is brutal lol.

LOL, how is it bad? You just have to play it right man. You wanna counter big spells, not something they can pay to let it resolve, that's the point.

mana leak is one of my personal favorites. Any blue deck I play with typically has a couple floating around in it. Sure it doesn't always work like it is supposed to and sometimes I prefer dissipate, but mana leak is great for when your opponent just doesn't expect it.

I love Mana Leak ! either use it when the game is starting to block their first creatures or etc, or counter something big that they can't pay to ignore, it's all about the timing, like the rest of the game. Looking at their hand helps tremendously

Mana Leak is amazing early-mid game. it doesn't really pack quite a punch when during the late game, when they have enough land to pay for a titan and the mana leak cost or have enough mana for their own counter spell

the best things to counter in the standard format with Mana Leak would be Titans, Hero of Bladehold , Birthing Pod , Phyrexian Crusader , and of course, other Mana Leak s

Mana Leak is also part of a two step move for many control decks, the move being Mana Leak important card of opponent, the counter resolves, then Surgical Extraction the important card

in casual and EDH it is garbage because of the better counters avaiable or the ones that aren't complete crap late game but in standard it is simply great namely Counterspell !! lol. Cryptic Command is my personal favourite though :-)

meh not with the amount of dual colour land in the world, but i agree with what you are saying, still Mana Leak is far to easy to avoid some times which can make it terrible. if you are running super land like the ravnica and shadowmoor land (which you bloody should be in casual! for example) then you should not really ever have a problem as them lands are just too damn good! :-). but again this is all casual talk so really if you miss the counterspell turn 2 for some reason it probs wont make much difference to your life. what we should be doing is setting up your game using Isochron Scepter with the counterspell on it. now that baby dont need no colours yo! :-)

i love it. Sitting there while they drop a Wurmcoil Engine turn 6 with 6 land and you just say no its pretty nice to have even if you only have two just for protection

Mana Leak is good because 1)When people cast spells, they usually cast it as soon as they have enough mana (unless it's removal of a counterspell) and 2)If someone casted a spell 3 turns after it could have been cast, at that point in the game its impact would not be as profound (unless, again, it's a counterspell or removal).

No. Mana leak is definitely a cool card and its the most rounded standard counter. But after turn 5 its a dead card unless the right situation comes up. it does still disadvantage the player late game by making them tap land they could have used for something else. but its nothing compared to the OG Counterspell . Its a bittersweet card for me.

No. Mana leak sucks late game. Especially against control, with their 26 land count. A lot of my friends hate it and only run Cancel and other unconditional counterspells.
