Arcane Signet

Right now there are two posts on tcgplayer for Arcane Signet at an unrealistic price. How much do you think Signet will actually settle around after release?

$20? More like peak at $6 and then decrease from there.

TCGPlayer is becoming a very unethical company as far as setting prices, price gouging and overall misleading price information. Supply and Demand? Nope, never take what they say at face value. For example Command Tower ELD edition is selling for $7.50, but you can get Tower (the exact same card) for $1.50 from just released C19. There's no reason except to mislead customers to even have ELD edition selling for as much as it is at TCGPlayer.

Signet is a common and confirmed to be in every ELD Brawl precon. If it was only in one precon then yes it would be $20 or more, but it's not, it's in every one. Wizards is pushing Brawl to make a come back meaning they're going to print a lot of the precons. The Signet can also be opened as a common (possibly one of 9 common/uncommon cards) in an overpriced Collector Booster which means printing even more copies of it. One Collector Booster is being included in the ELD Buy-a-Box promo meaning when you get a box you also get a Booster.

At TCGPlayer all the new cards from C19 where preorder for $20 each. Now only one card, Dockside Extortionist is at $20 and some are less than a $1. All the C19 precons at TCGPlayer were inflated $100 or more each in expected value. Now the reality is not one precon is worth $100 with the most value from a precon being $90 because of Extortionist.

You would expect the ELD Brawl precons to have the very same inflated value and they do, but the scary thing is even with the inflated value only two are over $100 in value right now and not by much. The precons are going to drop like a rock in value when they're actually released. In the end I wouldn't be surprised if the only card that keeps any value in a precon is the Shock land and that value will only be $6-$8.

multimedia tcgplayer has no control over card prices. They're a website to unify all trading card game stores into a single place. Arcane Signet isn't even printed yet. Pre-order prices literally always do this. When the card is actually printed, then stores will have them in hand and list them for a reasonable price. Until then, prices are completely unreliable and don't mean anything.

But I want to stress the point that none of this has to do with tcgplayer. Vendors are allowed to list cards at whatever price they want. Tcgplayer does not (and should not) regulate this.

As for Arcane Signet , until it sees a lot more printings, it will be a $20 card or more. Almost every commander deck wants a copy, which is a ton of demand when you can't open it from packs. A lot of commander players also have the money to pay $20 per copy for it.

multimedia - $7.50 seems like a reasonable price for the new Command Tower at this time. Yes, it is a card that has already been printed, but it also is new art (making demand for this printing greater than others) and people pay a premium to be among the first to purchase new art. Low supply of new art, plus high demand means an increased price.

Yes, you are also correct that the price will drop post release. There will be a greater supply (particularly since some will presumably also be in the collector’s packs), and there will be fewer people willing to pay a premium so they’re among the first to purchase (those kinds of people will have already bought their card). Greater supply, with lower demand at that price point, means decreased cost.

multimedia TCG is the most reliable site for real time card value because prices are set by the vendors who have to list cards at a price that will sell. The market dictates prices on all cards. While it definitely won't be twenty I can't see Signet dipping below five in the foreseeable future.

Wotc did give an announcement that since the brawl decks are being hyped so much they were going to do another heavier printing, so yeah I could see the price being kinda around sol ring ends up being each year.

Demarge, multimedia so much for "printing a lot of the precons" & "heavier printing" - we had all of our preorders cancelled as exactly ZERO Brawl decks showed up today. Not one LGS in my city got even one precon.

We are not alone in this as Arcane Signet has now hit $30 and will now probably be up to $40 by Sunday...

It's the 1st day of their official release and the printing more part is something they started up after they noticed the preorder hype, more are coming, they will become cheaper.

Brawl precons are selling for $21 each at Target and Walmart now. I'm in a small town in WA and I got the two I wanted from Walmart on the 4th. Don't be fooled by the secondary online market which is swindling uninformed customers.

Now that the Brawl precons are officially released, reality has struck. Arcane Signet is dropping in price by the hour and you can now even get it for less than $10 from TCGPlayer and Ebay. All the Commanders of the precons which have been inflated 200% in price for preorder are now dropping to their actual price which will end up being $5-$10 or most likely even less for some. Knights' Charge which was once preorder for $38 is now less than $6 and I expect it to drop even more.

The only cards holding steady right now at the current price are the Shock lands, but even they will decrease as more precons are opened. I expect the Shock lands that are included in the precons to follow the same trend as Overgrown Tomb did since it was in the Deadly Discovery Golgari Challenger deck. It has been holding steady at less than $7 since then.

What I wonder is why Command Tower is not as expensive as the Arcane Signet . Both do the same thing, and I do realize that Command Tower can be pulled in boosters. But you still have to pay 3 mana to even play the Signet. The Command Tower is a land.

Someone please explain.

Faelix_Drakes - Simple answer: There have been 11 printings of Command tower, so many people who want a Command Tower already have the copy they need. Conversely, there has only been one printing of Arcane Signet , so players need to purchase copies to upgrade their existing decks.
