Monomanamaniaci Like your balan deck a lot and would like to brew one just like yours

SirChris39 thank you I'm glad to hear it. I should be updating itv tomorrow with Sword of Fire and Ice. This deck is my main commander deck in paper, it's a vision I've been crafting for years that's taken many forms and been helmed by multiple commanders. If it gives you inspiration feel free to copy the deck and make any adjustments you want to fit your play style. If you're thinking about building a physical list this is not exactly a budget friendly version, but I have a huge binder of cards that I could give suggestions from lol

The Lightning Greaves could be swapped with Swiftfoot Boots as the shroud ability might not be as good as hexproof in this deck. It can cause issues when trying to attach equipment; if you temporarily equip the boots elsewhere to attach another piece of equipment you have a chance of being targeted whereas the Swiftfoot Boots can stay attached and protect Balan the whole time.

FunReaper I actually run both of them in this deck. Balan is great because her activated ability gets around shroud, so Whispersilk Cloak and Lightning Greaves are both great for this commander. I know normally greaves is pretty terrible for a voltron commander, but I get away with it alright lol

I love this brew so much!!! One thing - is Godsend worth it, considering EDH is a singleton format? Maybe replace it with either Loxodon Warhammer or O-Naginata?

portalguyman yes, especially if I can give Balan trample. If Balan has trample and they block with 1 creature, it gets exiled and all the damage goes through anyways. Even without trample it's a very powerful equipment that instantly exiles a creature that tries to block, so if an opponent has a way to bring back creatures from the graveyard that's not going to work. It also stops all opponents from casting that creature, which is niche but I've had it work really well when dealing with 2 decks running the same type of commander (mainly tribal like vampires, elves, dragons, or something like that). It's also a devotion source if I have nykthos in play. I've honestly debated taking godsend out, but it's one of my favorite equipment that I bought for 3$ when nobody thought it'd be worth anything. I've never felt bad about drawing it, and it makes a huge impact every time I play it, making an opponent think twice about blocking Balan (and you really need to block Balan because she's usually going to deal 22 commander damage at least if she connects).

I appreciate your suggestions though, o-naginata is on a short list of cards I want to put into the deck and Loxodon Warhammer got taken out for Shadowspear

Thank you for appreciating the time and effort I've put into this deck, this is a physical list that I've been working on for years and I'm glad it shows. I hope that one day more people will start to recognize that Balan, Wandering Knight is an amazing commander who is one of the best Volton commanders in my opinion.
