Fun Vampire deck I made just for casual play with friends because I only play in Draft Tournaments. I am sure we all know the basic idea behind this, but just for shits and giggles I will write out the strategy and how it works. Any ideas on how to make it better or strategies that I may not have thought of are appreciated. Just for casual play so I will not be buying expensive cards for it. I really just want to know what people think, I feel like it works really well against almost any deck so far.
Piranha Marsh - Cool little land that helps me whittle my opponents health down to 10 or less.
Dark Ritual - Helps me play Vampire Nighthawk on turn one (which happens fairly often) also good for boosting my defenses by getting out my one drop vampires quickly. Overall good card for most black decks I think.
Feast Of Blood/Gatekeeper of Malakir/Urge To Feed - Multipurpose kill spells. Allows me to control the field against most decks as well as pumping up my vampires or gaining life.
Guul Draz Vampire/Vampire Lacerator - Guul Draz is just amazing against most decks because of the pump up ability and the fact that against everythign except black it can be unblockable. Lacerator is a fantastic one drop that is a 2/2 and having to sacrifice one lifepoint until my opponent is less than 10 is more than bareable. With Nighthawk and Kalastria and Feast of Blood I can end with my life points staying around 20.
Kalastria Highborn/Vampire Nighthawk/Vampire's Bite - Kalastria is just a good card for this helping me deal damage and gain life even without having to attack. Nighthawk is mandatory for any vampire deck I feel because it is fantastic. Vampire's Bite is amazing, a +3/+0 to help accelerate my opponents life loss for 1 mana and if I have the mana I can gain lifelink.
Sign in Blood - Probably one of the most important cards in here. Either I can kill off my opponent with this card (Which happens more often than I thought it would) or get some needed draw power. If I am in a bind I can usually sign in blood and get something to help me rise back to power.
Highest casting cost is three which I can manage on turn one. I am not only able to attack and deal quick damage, but I also gain life to help prevent me from losing in that way. With 12 of my cards able to get rid of opponents monsters and 16 of my cards able to get myself life it gives me a good balance between destruction and life gain. In my opinion the exact definition of how I view Vampires.
