The Most Epic Kill (Zedru vs Mimeoplasm vs Oloro) —March 4, 2016
I kept a "slow" hand that cast Krenko on turn 4. The rest of the table slowly developed until Zedru threw down both a Rest in Peace and a Torpor Orb and then threw down a Solitary Confinement. At that point the table had decided he was a threat, so Oloro and I made a deal: He would kill the Solitary Confinement if I didn't attack him. I agreed. Unfortunately, his way of dealing with the Solitary Confinement was Austere Command, and the modes chosen were destroy artifacts and destroy enchantments. As my board was half artifacts at the time, I was unhappy - but I honored our agreement as he left my goblins alone, even if it cost me about 4 turns worth of development.
Eventually, I drew Moggcatcher and Thousand-Year Elixir. I should mention that, at this point, I had had Goblin Charbelcher in hand since the beginning of the game, just hoping to have a chance of using it. At this time I activated the 'catcher and searched for Skirk Prospector. I then untapped the 'catcher with the elixir and searched for Goblin Recruiter. Krenko made a few more goblins and I sacrificed them for enough mana to both cast and activate the belcher, targetting the hapless Zedru. Belcher revealed 22 goblins and a mountain to shoot Zedru from 40 down to -6 in a single turn!
Both Mimeoplasm and Oloro were not thrilled at the prospect of me doing this again and, even though I made the attempt to take out Mimeoplasm with another Charbelcher activation, Oloro put a stop to it and I attacked with a hundred goblins for the win instead.
So you might ask: Was running a bad card like Goblin Charbelcher worth it?
It was. Despite losing to the belcher, that's all anyone talked about for the rest of the night.
