MB & SB Changes —Oct. 11, 2016
Let's jump right into the changes:
*MAINBOARD
Ruinous Path: While I really like this card, and I still think it's a good catch-all tool, I am going to need to remove it. The only planes-walkers I saw people play at my FNM were Tamiyo (in the sideboard), Saheeli, and OGW Chandra. They were also played in very small amounts meaning that AT BEST Ruinous Path is a sideboard card for right now, things might change after the Pro Tour this weekend, depending on how the meta shapes.
Negate: this card did decently in the main board, and it hit a decent amount of threats, but I feel like I should go back to storing this in the side.
OPEN SLOT COUNT: 5
SIDEBOARD
Aether Meltdown: This is a great card, just not here. This is good in mono blue or U/X variants that lack hard removal, but in here it's very meh. I could just run more instant speed removal instead.
Fumigate: This is getting replaced by Descend upon the Sinful. I think that 3 wipes in the main are fine, and if I need to move in a fourth or possibly a fifth, then it has to be something that not only can wipe the field, but that can also counter a specific strategy. Descend is good against Grixis Emerge and G/R Delirium, from what I see so far; both decks seem to see a descent amount of play in my shop.
Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet: this guy is getting moved to the main board, he is just really good against a number of decks. He helps permanently remove threats and helps me stabilize.
Harsh Scrutiny: I feel like that while this card does well, this is already a deck that's geared towards dealing with creature heavy threats.
OPEN SLOT COUNT: 8
So what are the empty slots being replaced by? In the main I am going to move over Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet. and bring in 3 Immolating Glare.instead. As far as the side goes, I am filling 2 slots by moving in Negate, adding 1 Descend upon the Sinful, upping the number on Summary Dismissal, 2 copies of Blessed Alliance, and add 2 more Declaration in Stone.
This is a little hastily written, as I am writing this while getting ready for work, but I think that covers all the changes I made. On a side note I might swap one Noxious Gearhulk for another Torrential Gearhulk. I might also cut a walker or two, it will likely be Jace, just to make room for more things. I feel like 9 walkers, even if I am relying on them as win cons and primary advantage tools, is too many so I am likely to cut one of the two walkers that share the same cmc.
