If youre doing allies and having black in it, you should strongly consider Kalastria Healer and maybe something that makes tokens like Gideon, Ally of Zendikar or Captain's Claws.

If you want some suggestions on how to make an Ally deck really powerful, check out my deck Mardu Allies Aggro which went 3-1 at my FNM only losing unluckily to Tron. It's really solid and doesn't run the Human AND Ally theme.

Those are all pretty easy matchups, i only lost to Tron because i got flooded...

Beating affinity or tron a couple times doesnt make a deck good.

I don't really think Aether Vial is doing very much for you. You're not a tempo deck like Humans or Merfolk, this is nothing but beat-face aggro, and you should embrace its identity as such. I'd trade those in for a couple of extra lands and maybe fill out a playset of one of your 2-ofs.

I didn't think so either and I really didn't want to get Vials, until I did a bunch of playtests with them, and Kabira Evangel is really the main cause for it. So now I have Vials that I got for cheap, which is actually the single most expensive set of cards I've ever bought.

did you get a really good deal on your Caverns, if your Vials were the most?

I've had 3 of the Caverns since they were in standard and I got the 4th in a couple of random packs I decided to open at a store cuz Avacyn packs were like $5. I have A LOT of modern cards that have more than doubled and some even tripled in their prices since I got them. Best example is Goryo's Vengeance at $8. Just a combination of luck and good investment choices.

How about a Captain's Claws ? It's one of the sickest ally tribal cards out there !

@ROUROU (fight the power), I can at least respect Captain's Claws enough to try and own them, I do not at the moment, and I think I can at least try and playtest it in the correct scenario, but the biggest reservation is that they are indeed Kor Ally and not Human, which isn't the worst thing, but it also leans itself to a kind of grindy game.

Overall not directed at anyone in particular but I do believe there are unexplored combinations of Allies and Humans that might care more about color combinations or even value spells that would fit more in the themes of midrange, aristocrats/Rally the Ancestors where Kalastria Healer and Zulaport Cutthroat support that, game that lean themselves to more of that grind.

Dorotheus DON'T!!! At three mana , it's way too slow... I tried playtesting it and it didn't work out. Keep the deck as it is . It's very nice and consistent!

Looking at some earlier comments, it looks like you used to run Collected Company? If so, did you find them not good or just not what the deck was wanting to do?

@clayperce I didn't own them but I did tests with them for a little while, they are terrible in a control meta since you have no way to always hit that 4 mana, and it's easily countered/exiled. Having the 5 color mana base for creatures is more of a priority, reduces countered spells and increases consistency.

HOWEVER, knowing what I know now if you wanted to gear it to be a Coco deck, you could, and I'd increase some of the 3-cost good cards, drop Scales and maybe drop some number or all Vials for 21 lands in total. Basically would be allies that plays a bit more like Humans does, more midrangey and grindy.
