I don't know if I've been lucky with the choice of my tribals, but I seem to be getting new awesome cards for my tribal decks from every set. Theros: Beyond Death is no exception as it brings me a great 2-drop in Riptide Turtle. It's a 0/5 defender with flash and thus clearly an update over Giant Tortoise, so it will definitely replace it.

thomas9790: thanks a lot for the comment and the suggestions. Slagwurm Armor is an interesting suggestion indeed, the shields aren't too great though. Adding a whole new artifact strategy part for "just" a small push doesn't seem to be worth it overall. Tree of redemption isn't a turtle and has no special synergy except with assault formation. Agoraphobia is cool, but with Thriving Turtle , Aether Meltdown is better. Thank you very much for your thought still :)

SynergyBuild: Durdle Turtle. Gotta love that name. It definitely is one of the most flavourful cards in the whole game. But it's too expensive for how bad it is. The two copies work great and will even better with Mistford River Turtle . But four just seem to many ;)
