FNM 3 Results —Dec. 22, 2013
Third FNM win in-a-row! 3-0 with a total record of 6 wins and 2 losses.
First opponent used an Azorius deck with Ordeals and weenies. soldier of pantheon is sometimes a threat and whenever I see him in decks, I bring in the Doom Blades. =] Took this match-up, 2-0.
Second match-up was also Azorius. He ran it very similar to the previous challenge. soldier of pantheon, Fiendslayer Paladin, Archangel of Thune, and Precinct Captain. Scooped the first round, because my land sucked. In the second game, I got to throw in the Doom Blades and patiently waited for the Pantheon to throw down. He brought me down to 2 or 3 life, I don't remember, but I turned the game just when I thought my third FNM win (this month) was at stake, with a Blood Baron of Vizkopa. He made the error of not getting rid of Jace, Architect of Thought. I used his +1 ability, making them hit weaker, and blocked an Imposing Sovereign, that kept messing with my Obzedat, Ghost Council. Third game, he played too far into my Supreme Verdict and easily gained control of the game after that. 2-1.
Third and final round, opponent used Izzet with Thassa, God of the Sea. It seems that this has been quite redundant in pattern as to who I go up against and what deck they use. I remember, maybe from week 1, all these match-ups to be familiar. Anyway, Opponent swarmed in with Thassa, God of the Sea and an AEtherling...I scooped as soon as I saw it cast. LOL. I needed my Gainsays in the deck. It would turn the whole match into a control challenge, and seeing as his Izzet was aggro, I knew I'd have the upper hand with more control. My AEtherling fell and did work! Last game, he still couldn't deal with the Obzedat, Ghost Council. He revealed to me, after the game, that he should've sided in his Rapid Hybridization and I agreed. LOL. 2-1
This deck has been doing wonders and it's perhaps my best deck, yet. I've got to admit that this is not my deck and do not know who "first" designed it, but I had to tweak it against the match-ups I see against every FNM. Little-by-little, the deck got better and better. Try it, use it, it's earned my thumbs-up!
