Iconic Masters Spoiler - Mana Drain —Sept. 9, 2017

So, until the glorious day Wizards crafts up some delicious new Slivers to unleash upon the masses I've been kind of "meh" for just about every new set release until I saw: Mana Drain Iconic Masters

my reaction Show

This is obviously this is the chase rare for the set, and I'm sure it'll definitely end up being worth basically a Mortgage payment considering how much a foil force of will currently costs (around $400 I think). I already saw a Foil Iconic Masters Mana Drain on ebay from HASCON. As of now, the auction has about 3 days left and the card is going for a little over $200. I'm going to try and trade up to one, using my MP Mana Drain + Kaladesh Masterpiece Engineered Explosives + Money. Ether that, or i'll pay for the card outright, and then sell off some cards to try and recoup some of the costs. Think this is a good trade? Think i'm a fool for investing so much money in a game about pieces of card board with drawings on them? Let me know in the comments.

Now is the time for some C17 stuff! A land you can add is Path of Ancestry, which unfortunately enters tapped, but is a Command Tower that scrys whenever you cast a sliver. Another great card is Kindred Discovery, which will make all your slivers draw cards on top of what they already do. In fact, the whole Kindred cycle is worth looking into. The rest of the cards are less exciting, but any tribal deck should look into it.

Monkeylordz, thanks for bringing my attention to some of the new cards from C17. Path of Ancestry caught my attention, but then I kind of wrote it off as a strictly worse Command Tower due to it coming into play tapped. But then I thought more about the scry 1 part of it's mana generation and I have mixed feelings. I want my deck to be as fast as possible so anything that enters tapped is kind of a no go to me. But that scry 1 really gives me pause.

Kindred Discovery is a strictly better Synapse Sliver. That is nothing to shake a stick at though. Considering my deck, other cards that cost as much are basically combo pieces and wincons. Then there are cards that just help me dominate the battlefield through sheer numbers. KD is a very good card but has a very big and fundamental flaw in that it requires creatures to work. I'll keep thinking on how i can incorporate it, but for now it's mostly something i'll mull over.
