Fisher's Talent provides an interesting minigame all on its own. Each turn you cast out for a fish, and maybe you reel one in! Either way, you draw a card, so it's not a total loss. Oh yeah, and if you pony up the dough for some high-quality bait, you can even bag a shark (!) or a full-blown kraken (!!)
Okay, cool! It's a little slow at four-mana-plus-wait-for-next-upkeep-plus-not-guaranteed-to-trigger, but we can build around such a fun idea. The two options to shore up are ensuring you reveal a land, and making more fish, since the Talent replaces any fish tokens that show up with their beefier counterparts. But here's the problem... Fisher's Talent seems to be a little short on enough support to make a reliable, full-blown deck. We know our colours are blue and green, and there are precious few ways to make fish tokens... a lot of the more intriguing ways are off-colour. Still, deckbuilding challenges aren't about what's easy. It's about making it work as best you can!
The new piece of support that gives me hope is the folksy Fishing Pole, which is big on flavour (even if it is also a little big on mana costs.) Hand it to any old goon, and they can start reeling in a guaranteed catch every turn. We know we're in blue/green, so we can play to its strengths - Armored Scrapgorger and Gyre Engineer provide bigtime acceleration, helping you get the Talent out fast and leveling it up without issue. The Scrapgorger also provides graveyard hate and even eventually grows every time he becomes tapped, meaning if you don't need the mana, he can go fishing and still be productive! Moonfolk Puzzlemaker likewise does his thing whether he attacks or casts out a line, and should help line up the top of your library for a steady stream of fish tokens.
Reservoir Kraken provides a bit of muscle that can put your foe in an interesting situation - does he let you attack with the 6/6 trampler or get a free 8/8? - and Expendable Lackey can fish just as well as any other creature, then later turn into an 8/8 for out of your graveyard. Yowza!
