Not a lot going on in these sets, but New Capenna definitely brought some great new additions.

IN

  • Boon of Safety - stacking these on Feather will render her nigh unkillable except by exile or bounce, an insanely strong card for this deck
  • Burning Prophet - Prophet returns becasue Ripley Vance was so bad, I had to put something back in and nothing new struck my fancy, plus this card was never bad
  • Glittering Stockpile - mana rock that can be cashed in for more than one mana later seems very good
  • Illuminator Virtuoso - card selection, it's a threat - this card seems very powerful on the surface
  • Vanquish the Horde - I cut Wrath for this because it's two mana less most times and the non-regenerate clause is only useful against a niche selection of decks

OUT

  • Captain Ripley Vance - just not good outside of Voltron shells
  • Council's Judgment - it's a great removal spell, but three mana sorcery really hurts to cast early/mid game
  • Geistflame Reservoir - this card just never seemed to do much, too slow early game, too unimpactful late game
  • Scroll of the Masters - same as Ripley, just not pulling weight because I'm not a voltron shell, and three mana is a fairly high amount before late game
  • Wrath of God - cut for Vanquish because it's cheaper

Voitagi - Welcoming Vampire definitely seems like it could have some utility, especially in a more blink/ETB focused build; for me personally though, I don't think it's doing quite enough because without a token generator, it isn't doing anything for my 99, but if you have more ways to trigger it, by all means test it out. Thanks for the comment!

TeyoSelflessProtector - Phalanx Tactics is definitely insane with Zada, but it's one of those cards that's pretty underwhelming without Zada or Mirrorwing, and even though I have a fair amount of token generation, I doubt this card would pull it's weight without Zada

In terms of Dreadhorde, I just generally never find myself needing to cast out of the graveyard that much, because you can cast your spells in response to a wheel to store them in exile, and I think Mavinda plays a better recursive role for my build, since I can't buff Dreadhorde that much. For a more voltron centric build though, Dreadhorde probably has more utility especially for flashing back non-targeted spells and spells that cost more than 1. Thanks for the comment!

Thoughts on Explosive Entry out of Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty? Although it is a sorcery, repeatable artifact destruction at the rate of 2 mana and a +1/+1 counter seems kinda decent.

Really love this deck and appreciate the updates as new sets come out. Your efforts are very much appreciated. I made a copy of this deck with some of my own cards at home. Thank you!

@Nic44 - Explosive Entry definitely seems playable, though sorcery speed does hurt my liking of it a little; this card will vary by meta on how useful it will be, but I think it's a strong contender nonetheless especially for voltron based builds where the counter matters more.

@amarthaler - thanks for the kind words! I'm just doing my best to have this here as a guide or starting point for anyone looking to jump into this commander and have as much fun as I have over the years :)

There won't be an official changelog for Neon Dynasty as I'm only making one change, and only Explosive Entry and Light the Way seem to have potential. I'm cutting Needle Spires for the new Eiganjo because it comes in untapped and has utility. I'm not adding Sokenzan because it's red, but it's definitely playable if you aren't white heavy like my list is.

I just got an Aurelia's Fury in - thinking to swap that in and Intimidation Bolt out. What's your thoughts?

amarthaler - I just realized my Aurelia’s Fury section still isn’t updated. The TLDR for my personal opinion is that Fury is/was overhyped, it’s power is overestimated, and it’s too mana intensive to be that much more functional in Feather than any other Boros/RWX deck. Its win more in my opinion or it’s bad, those are it’s two modes. That being said, it’s one of the more popular cards for the deck and I get why, silence effects are powerful. If you want to test Fury, I would never discourage that.

I would strongly discourage cutting Intimidation Bolt though unless your meta just skips the combat step entirely every pod. It literally neutralizes decks that have to attack to win. Seriously, it’s basically reusable Teferi’s Protection against combat damage that gets around Questing Beast because it isn’t a fog. This card is the bane of creature decks and it alone has won me more games than probably even Aria of Flame because of the amount of turns it will buy you. Also, in a pinch it’s a removal spell.

Thanks for your comment!

What about Clarion Spirit ?

Ok it's only one token per turn and if you play 2 spell per turn. But it's all the spells so if you play one creature during your turn and and an instant it work. Also the token stay, it's not the case with manaform hellkit. Also it doesn't need to be targeted and the token have flying which is better than Akroan Crusader and Vanguard of Brimaz.

Thanks for the feedback, Control_Train. What do you usually target with Intimidation Bolt? Maybe I'm using it wrong.

Eloniel - It definitely could be useful, casting two spells a turn isn't difficult even on opponent's turns, so it could make up to four tokens per turn cycle. I think it's a fair card if you're going heavy on tokens or have more heroic creatures in general so that something like Vanguard or Crusader aren't as useful. Thanks for the comment!

amarthaler - Feather. 4 toughness always survives the Intimidation Bolt unless she gets damaged some other way but since combat for that turn will be negated, you don't have to worry about blocking.

Hi! I used your deck as an starting point when I made my own and I like your comments and updates. Would love to know if you have found anything interesting in Streets of New Capenna.

I think Boon of Safety is amazing as it might be a less reliable "indestructible" giver at first, but allows for stacking for later turns. In combination with Zada you could end up with a bunch of creatures with an stupid amount shield counters each if you keep playing it every turn.

From the precon Commander decks I like Audacious Swap in combination with Monastery Mentor and other token creatures. Tenuous Truce also looks great in order to make some good friends
