I've been trying to make a splash-white Izzet spellslinger deck for a while, and this deck has been such an inspiration for me so thanks!

I think Spectacle Mage and Maelstrom Muse could add a lot, especially in combo with your commander. Najal, the Storm Runner or even something like Teach by Example could help copy those big spells for even more chaos. Then with how many 5+ mana cost spells it plays, Prismari Apprentice could get pretty crazy. You did a great job with this deck, and it seems like so much fun to play.

Ok, a little bit of context: My job is basically a social worker in a youth project. There happen(ed) to be working other MtG-people besides me, and many of our youths/young adults are pretty nerdy, although they mostly play other TCGs. We still established some collections for various TCGs, among others obviously an MtG-one. From that pile of cards I build some janky commander decks, and some of them simply function hilariously at that level, and from playing them few times, the ones I like best:

Arni Brokenbrow:

Theme: "Stronger than you"

The deck basically has lots of pump spells, auras and equipment andput those on...no, not Arni himself, but another creature. This way, Arni's boast makes you benefit from the power-boost twice, once for himsrlf and once for his buddy he wants to be stronger then. The most important keyword for the deck to have is first strike to prevent Arni from dying. It is a really weird to play voltron with unusual, but really fun lines of play.

Eutropia the Twice-Favored:

Theme: "Float like a butterfly, hit like a truck"

Little creatures with value abilities, +1/+1 counter synergy, and enchantress effects to hit hard, fast and evasive. The deck has clear voltron qualities, and Eutropia is a lot more dangerous than she looks. The best wincon for the deck isn't included in that version, but if I wereto build her myself, I'd include Arcanum Wings, Colossification and Eldrazi Conscription. In our games there, this deck becomes archenemy in no time, and as it ramps like hell, re-casting Eutropia five or even sic times is usually not that big of a deal.

I also built Najal, the Storm Runner, but haven't had a chance to see him in action, yet. The deck looks super-fun, though, and as sorceries tend to be pretty bad in most games, you automatically get to play cheap cards and make them more powerful.

My latest deck I built at home a little powered down was Kosei, Penitent Warlord. It has a table-kill potential similar to Heartless Hidetsugu, but looks a lot less frightening.

What do say?

You cannot. "Activate this ability any time you can cast for a sorcery" is a specific term of art that means "Activate this ability only during your turn and only if the stack is empty." It does not actually look at the timing of when you can physically cast a sorcery (thus it is not influenced by cards like Najal, the Storm Runner or Archon of Valor's Reach)--it only checks whether the stack is empty and if it is your turn.

This would be one of my personal nominations for the worst-written phrase in all of Magic's rules, since it consistently misunderstood as having interactions it simply does not have.

It's a funny thought experiment with cards like Najal, the Storm Runner with abilities that can be activated only anytime you could cast a sorcery like on the card Captivating Crew. The thought experiment becomes whether or not you could activate a card like Captivating Crew during an opponent's turn at instant speed?

I ask this because you could technically cast a sorcery during your opponent's turn. would that mean you could also activate the ability anytime since you could cast a sorcery at any time?

I know the likely answer is that you cannot activate Captivating Crew's ability during an opponent's turn but it just seemed like funny wording to me.
