Why not Zoidberg?

Hylda of the Icy Crown is a pretty cool (ha) pillow fort commander that wants to tap down potential attackers with Opposition and Diversionary Tactics. The easiest finish with her would be snowman combat, but as you're already taking forever, you could also just play mill.

I already have Spirit of the Aldergard present in the deck. I originally had Replicating Ring included but dropped it for being a 3 mana ramp. might look to reinclude that along with an Arcane Signet (even though it isn't a snow permanent) for additional ramp.

I took a look at your Isu deck, love the incorporation of Hylda of the Icy Crown and the tap subtheme. might look to adjust to incorporate some of those ideas!

I've never seen a single episode of Adventure Time, but other Ice Monarchs are Hylda of the Icy Crown and Will, Scion of Peace(He's a Cryomancer who is also King of the plane of Eldraine). I hope this helps. Happy Hunting!

Haha - agreed! This deck is surprisingly fun and rewarding to play! I always wanted to utilize the tap mechanic in full force and Hylda of the Icy Crown was a perfect finisher to build around! Glad to hear you enjoy the deck!

I'd love me some redundancy for Opposition in Hylda of the Icy Crown. Skaab Wrangler is already in there, and I just found out there is Sandsower. But both of those are pretty expensive to activate. Sooo...

While it might be the case cards are getting more proactive, WoTC are still releasing some great defensive tools. Hylda of the Icy Crown is a very powerful commander for defensive decks. She made many of the released stun effects usable and gives a way to turn them into a win. Seen in conjunction with stun counters, that deck is only gonna get better.

It's Friday Nights around here (Wisconsin) but love the theme of this deck.

I always wanted to build around Derevi, Empyrial Tactician because I thought it pairs well with Hylda of the Icy Crown but I've only ever done one deck with her — Frozen

I got a merfolk deck I'm working on too — Submerged, though it's more based on Islandwalk + Merfolk tribal than just Merfolk.
